Ok, I'm confused. I just got back from my first XTC match and had a blast but I have a question about my front sight post. At every yard line, my front post was way wider than the aiming black. I was under the assumption that my post was .050 square so when I got home I measured the post and it was .074 x .054 and obviously the .074 was what was set. I guess I should mention also that I shoot center mass.
Is this normal or a quality control issue from the manufacturer? Is the reason for this to give someone the option of using a wider or narrower post? I'm guessing that I have the adjust the front sight two clicks at a time to keep the narrow setting. Im still new at this so forgive me if this is an easy answer. |

I could be wrong but it's my understanding that a match post only works one way. That is, only one side is meant to face the shooter (the tallest and widest). Turning it anything other than a full 360 degrees will have you looking at an angled post or the top edge won't be as clear. With a match post, I think you will have to install a new, smaller post.
I'm pretty new myself (like I said, I could be wrong), but I have two match posts for mine and both are this way. |

When you adjust with front sight you have to do it in 5 MOA increments because you must move it one complete revolution. ETA: Not sure I guess, but if his is .054 x .074 he needs the narrowest towards himself I think. |

So should I try to get an aftermarket post? 5MOA is pretty brutal for one revolution. I was thinking of getting a round post so that way it shouldn't matter. The front sight is just to get you in the ballpark. Everything after that is done with the rear sight. The only time you might have to touch the front sight again would be for 1,000 yards. |
