I know how major and minor is scored. Quick question on how clubs do overall scoring within multiple divisions. A club I'm thinking about shooting at has multiple divisions but when scoring comes out its not divided into divisions but just overall. In the past they scored based on divisions but now they just publish 1st to last. Wouldn't that give limited and open a big advantage over say production? Maybe there's more to it with vodoo math
Question for the math crunchers or match directors I guess Edit: most shooters here are limited major and production with sprinklings of the others. |

Are they paper scoring or using a program such as pratciscore?
If using practiscore they are just being lazy. Send them an email and ask if they have the breakdown. Most clubs these days actually upload their match scores to the prctiscore website and sent out a link for viewing. |

If it is USPSA, when they upload to USPSA it is broken out. The clubs I shoot at publish both combined and by division. The division rankings are usually close to overall but sometimes places switch between shooters within the division compared to their order in the overall scores.
Open definitely has the advantage followed by limited then L10 major followed by single stack and production. Depending on stage design the extra rounds can be an advantage over major. It is still fun to try to compete overall with single stack. It is a hurdle but can be overcome. |

Go to the club locator: http://www.USPSA.org/locate-uspsa-clubs.php Punch in your zipcode. Now find the club you are talking about. If it is north of I-80, the club code should be something NI05 or NI08 . If it is south of I-80, the club code should just be like IL13 or IL10. Then go to match results: http://www.USPSA.org/uspsa-display-match-results.php Punch in the club code, then select the year, and it will show the results listed like for January,Februar, March, April, etc 2013 . Click on the match you want to see. It will give you something like this: http://www.USPSA.org/uspsa-display-match-results-detail.php?indx=7550 Then you just click on the division results. I used to be a match director. I used to punch scores into EZWinscore. If you ask me, how EZWin calculates the combined overal UNofficial results is fucked up. I think in general USPSA scoring is goofy. You already got your score, your hit factor for a stage. Just add all your hit factors together. Guy with the highest cumulative hit factor wins. Yes, I see the logic of converting stuff over to stage points and percentages, but guess what? Everybody has the same chance to hero or zero a stage just like everybody else regardless if it was a 32 round field course or a 6 round stand and deliver burn 'em down stage. The stage points and percentages thing exaggerates how far apart shooters are in the standings. I have taken the cumulative hit factor if say the top 5 shooters at a Nationals match. The guy who is first based on stage points and percentages has been 3rd or even lower if you were to go by cumulative hit factor. |
