YES, but make sure that it's not just a match trigger. You need a trigger suitable for the type of competition you are planning on.

+1 If you are shooting HP going from a stock trigger to a custom match trigger will help you tremendously.

i was thinking of going with the chip Mccormick drop in match trigger configured for cmp competition, is this a good choice or is there better drop in triggers out there?hinking.gif

This trigger is not legal for CMP matches. It has to be at least 4.5 lb trigger that doesn't change the outside appearance of a service rifle. The popular triggers for CMP matches are Guissele, RRA(tuned by WOA) and Jewell.

RRA right out of the package is just fine! Takes only a few minutes to install. Will last thousands and thousands of firings. Retail they sell for about $110 ??? Then if something happens 20 years from now, they are there for you!
They weigh in at about 5 1/4 lb. total but when the second stage breaks, it's "Oh Baby"!

You betcha it will.

However, as the others have said, you gotta have the proper trigger; it's gotta have a pull no lighter than 4-1/2 lbs and it cannot change the external appearance of the rifle if you're shooting a service rifle.  That means the Chip McCormick triggers are out (I think the pull is too light, at least it is on all the ones I've tried, and they use little e-clips to hold the trigger pins in place - that's an external alteration).

Of course, if you're shooting a match rifle, throw all that out the window, it don't matter.
