Do I need to do anything different to run a mid length upper with an A2 (rifle buffer / buffer tube) lower?
Or slap on and go? I'm wanting to replace my carbine extension with a rifle one and run an A1 / C1 stock. Just needing to know if I need different buffer weight |

Slap and go. It will run fine. |

This set-up is exceptionally sweet and has not had any kind of failure at all (only about 300 rounds so far) and as of today is shooting into a 2" ball at 50 yards with a 4x scope. http://i209.photobucket.com/albums/bb27/INLAND44/Guns/sightpic.jpg More pics! I just ordered an Aero lower as well. ETA: what rear sling attachment setup is that? |

Aero lowers are fine. The sling attachment is the standard type for a 'patrol' sling on a full-stock rifle. It's included with the sling. When looking for a sling, you have to keep in mind what you have. I like the A1 stock because its a little shorter and fits me better, and it looks better with the 16" barrel. Sarco had a lot of these unissued stocks at one time for $65, with the military tube, buffer and spring. I have the stock cleaning kit in mine. Makes it heavier but also balances the heavier barrel some. I call this one my 'mini-rifle'.

I don't know which attachment he is running but Specter Gear makes a similar product. I have one and it's good stuff.

Sorry I've got no pics because back in 2005 my Colt 6721 upper build which I replaced the factory heavy barrel with a Operator midlength barrel which I temporarily tried it on my Colt Match Target HBAR lower with fixed A2 stock.
My 6721 lower was not completed yet at that time so I slapped my just built midlength upper on my A2 rifle lower just to try out my midlength upper. It worked fine and I'm not surprised because I used to have a factory built Colt Sporter Lightweight carbine 6530 with a carbine gas system upper on a fixed A2 rifle stock back during the ban years and had no FTF problems at all using different kind of military surplus ammo. |

YMMV

By sickmak90 at 2011-09-20 I dubbed it mini-A2. I have since sold it to my father who installed MOE handguards and a MOE stock. I will admit, it looked nice in the A2 setup, but was very uncomfortable to me. I only had it because I had the lower back in the ban days and it was a cheap and easy stock to use. |

I agree with what was posted above - this is definitely one of the best looking setups in my opinion. The A1 stock just looks completely *right* with a middy 16. I may have to get one some day.

At 1x it is almost like looking through an Aimpoint (at least with the M-223 on my rifle), though obviously you cannot co-witness. I am thinking about getting one of the new Nikon P-223 3x scopes for my Dissipator and moving the 1-4x to something else. |
