Uh no. Everything is correct. I have the engineering drawings and have checked them over closely and everything is spot on. No mistakes on these barrels and the company doing the machining has a lot of experience with Middys Denny |

I am going with round handguard caps as they are more common and will work Cav Arms midlength handguards. Denny |

Just got off the phone with Denny. Cancelled my order for the Stainless Recon barrel and changed it over to this barrel. More waiting but I think for a general purpose carbine this is gonna be better.

barrel/barrel nut/ FSB: can we get it without the FSB installed but the barrel pre drilled for pins ? for us guys who will install a FF :)
Thanks. Didn't want to come off like a smartaxx... but I want one with regular handguards. Sounds like this is the ticket. |
+1 was going to ask the same question, could we get the bbl/fsb pre-drilled to match but not installed?? |
Hey, Denny, charge 'em $10 to pound out the pins for them. |
or he could just drill it and not install the pin and that would save him the trouble of installing the pins |
I'm sure if he was making the barrels, he could do just that, but these are likely a production run and since each barrel/FSB assembly is drilled and reamed as a unit, it is much easier in the production process to complete the install, thus making sure each FSB stays with each barrel. Just knock the pins out, it is far easier than many make it out to be. Knowing Denny and his service, he might even knock the pins out for you all for free. I would, if it were my business, because it only take a few seconds. |

When we were on the phone earlier, Denny said he was getting the barrels assembled but he was doing the parkerizing on these barrels himself. Since he mentions in one the above posts the barrels will be park'ed under the FSB it should be a simple thing to NOT put it back on after park'ing. Problem solved |
sounds good to me |
Really? I thought triangle caps were the norm for middy's? I know my RRA middy came a triangle cap and my Cav Arms mid-length hand guards lock on tight to it.. Sabre's middy barrels are reported to come with triangle caps as well. Not sure what Armalite's come with? |

Me too! Denny |

I don't plan on floating it and I would want to be able to throw a pair of HGs on there. Nevermind, I didn't see that there was a 3rd page and this question was already answered. WIZZO |

Sure being the barrels are coming to me in the white we can run them down to GA Precision and have Geroge's crew flute them. Full length fluting is $150. Denny |

SWEET! |
Rock Creek does indeed make "service grade" barrels. |

Can you please start an "unofficial" starter list? I think more than 50 folks will want this barrel, and I want to get in on this run... |
Just the barrel I was looking for. Hope it isn't too pricey. Any idea how much heavier these are compared to the giffman barrels?
These barrels will weight approx. 2.5 lbs with front sight and A2 F/H. Anybody got a giffman barrrel to wiegh? Denny |
Denny,
Forgive my ignorance, but what advantage does the 9" have over the 7"? I'm faniliar with the 20" capabilities and mission role and carry an M4 you modified for me with DD FF rail, just not sure what this specific design is 'designed' for. But I am very interested in getting one built by you - you do damn good work and are very much a perfetionist with your work. It seems like everything you build you do it as if it were gonna be your on use weapon; I appreciate that and will continue to frequent you for my needs. Alan PS. After reading this before sending, it sounds like an "ass-kissin", but I really mean those things; you do great work and seem to really care.AWB |

Tagged for pricing info etc...
This might be my 13.2 build... |

Denny,
Way to raise the bar... One question...why 5.56 chamber and not Wylde? Matt |
Denny is a Machine gun guy......... PS - Will these be 5R rifled? |

Al There are many fine barrels in the market but none of seemed like just what I wanted. As I went thru them one by one either the profile was wrong for me, too light or too heavy or I didn't want the steel or the twist was wrong for the current trend in ammo etc. So I just spent a few weeks doing research with various profiles and with the help of computer aided modeling, not by me of course, came up with a contour, that when combined with the right steel would be fairly light weight at 2.5 lbs, but stiff enough to maintain accuracy even when very hot. Also I wanted it to take full auto fire and be able to hang a silencer on without a big POI change with the can mounted. I designed this as a multi-use barrel. It will be good and stiff with this profile and will lend itself to heavy use and abuse. Mike Rock makes some of the best blanks going, has top of the line QC and also offers chrome vanadium steel blanks. I chose the 5.56 chamber due to the barrels intended use and I wanted a barrel that would chamber anything you could stuff into a mag and the gun would run, red hot or ice cold. LMT uses Mike's blanks and even chromed line shoot very well. This barrel will not be as accurate as a match barrel like my Recon but should fall easily into the MOA catagory with proper ammo. The combo of chrome vanadium steel and a hard chromed bore and chamber will result in a barrel that will serve for many thousands of rounds. Midlength gas was a no brainer as it is easier on the rifles mechanism, very reliable and also allows the use of a minimum 9" rail. 7" rails seem a bit cramped for me. I use them on my M4s and shor barrels machine guns, but for all around I prefer 9"+ rail systems. A couple of guys asked about use in barrel vises and I don't see a problem as the taper is only .040 from the chamber to the gas system so a set of barrel vise jaws should be able to hold it just fine. One will have MY name on it for sure... |

Sounds like I have found my barrel. I am in! Just waiting on a price

I am working on it every day. The barrels are being profiled now. Then off to chrome Denny |

Count me 90% in. E-mail inbound!! Looks great, EXACTLY the niche that was NOT being filled. And GREAT timing! Let it be said I also appreciate the fact you aren't bundling everything so we have to buy junk we don't want or need.

In case I forgot to say it " i'm in. Will probably want you to attach the upper and some goodies though. Alan

Alan These barrels will be available from just a basic barrel with FSB and barrel nut to a full house build and most everything in between. Denny |
