Which one is more desireable? I have a Colt 6400 that is unbanned but I am thinking about either one of these.
Does anyone have a Bushmaster LEO? Thanks Max |
I have the 16in. Bushy carbine with the M4 profile barrel, marked for L.E.O. only.
It's a great rifle, no failures of any type and the finish is very nice. I would highly recommend the Bushmaster to anyone wanting a quality AR-15. |
JHMC,
What did you pay for yours if you don't mind me asking? Thanks Max |
Well I got a sweet deal from a dealer with whom I've done business for a long time.
Right before the A.W.B. sunsetted, I put a $400.00 deposit down. and then the week after he let me have it for another $250.00 for a total price of $650.00. This was the same price he was charging Law Enforcement Agencies before the sunset. |
Holy crap that is a good deal. I don't think I will get that lucky.
Max |
Bushmaster, which will do anything the Colt will do but at a cheaper price
Gonna polish it with a diaper all day and cry if it gets a scratch? Colt
Gonna shoot it to death and not worry about selling it? Bushmaster Anything in between these two scenarios falls to your discretion. Both are rifles of roughly similar quality and completely dissimilar price. |
simple...
shooter, carry, training, abuse rifle = Bushmaster LEO collection, safe queen, investment = COLT 6920 or get BOTH |
Shooter with decent resale value-Bushmaster
Shooter with good (or so I've heard) resale value-Colt If you're not worried about resale, just pick which animal you want on the side. WIZZO |
6920! One of mine's a shooter, think I even scratched it Haven't properly cleaned it yet over 8 months, just before shooting I just spray some CLP on the bolt and bolt carrier and wipe it down, then proceed to shoot it!
The other one I'm keeping it NIB as an investment |
+1 Do it right the first time. |
Agreed Plus you will get ........ a 1/7 twist for more ammo flexibility M4 hand guards (more comfortable) M16 bolt carrier (likely) MPC bolt - which is theoretically more reliable re-sale value difference is at least the difference in purchase price Lifetime warranty 170 years experience in firearm manufacturing |
Safe queen? Colt?
My Colt 6920 rides with me in the patrol car. Get the Colt and you get 100% magna particle testing to verify the quality. Don't know about MPT? Search the threads, more info than you want to know. Good luck and post pics when you make up your mind! |
Will do. It is just an opportunity that has presented itself.
Max |
Get bothhoot
Put away the Colt. |
For collecting and investment value the Colt Law Enforcement Carbine M4 is it for the AR-15...
The price will only increase, and it will retain it's value more than any other brands... |
Bah. I guess I'm of the "if you don't shoot it, you wasted your money" camp. I have a 6920 and love it. Oh, yes, it gets shot, scratched, and abused.
I had both and ended up selling the 6920.
Get a grip colt fans, the 6920 isn't going up in price. Quite the opposite. I ended up selling mine what I paid for it ($1050) and can pick another one up at that price if I wanted too..... |
Hasn't the price of 6920's done nothing but drop since September? |
Prices have been dropping now for awhile. Yeah, they went through the roof after the sunset but supply has now surpassed demand and the days of flipping a LE6920 for 2K are long gone. I don't think we'll see them get back to the $900 range anytime soon but they're definitely getting cheaper by the day. ETA: I've got a Bushy LEM4A3 and had LE6920, both are great and you can't go wrong with either. The trigger on the Colt was shit compared to the Bushy but other then that they were equal in my opinion. I do regret letting the Colt go but I was to tempted by the high prices they were going for to keep it. That being said, I've got another one coming in this week and the Bushy upper is for sale on the EE. Quality wise they're both on par but for an M4gery I missed having the little Pony on the side. |

not for awhile |

Buy the Colt.
If there's one thing I've learned when it comes to guns, scopes, ammo, and accessories, it's BUY CHEAP, BUY TWICE (OR MORE). If you want a quick synopsis of the real and important differences between the these two rifles, go look at my replies here, especially the first one on page 2: ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=3&f=118&t=246948&page=1 |

I have always been the get one that works. Without buying/paying the name. I got nothin bad to say about Bushmaster. I have shot them, and would be glad to own one. However I went with COLT. I like the 1/7 twist, M4 feed ramps, MP tested, robust magwell, print on the magwell, and the Pony. All with a life time warranty. Better value to me personaly was the COLT.
Colt has the name for a collector, and being they dont care about the civie's I would think they would be more desireable 10-20 yrs from now. everybody has bushmaster, but then I think my Barrett is sweet,,, is this a trick question???????
don't forget M4 feed ramps |

Either one is fine. I would go with Bushy rather than the socialist and crooked Colt.
What is with this safe queen b/s?
I own a Colt and SHOOT THE SHIT OUT OF IT. I would do the same with a Bushy. Flip a coin, you will not do wrong with either. Personally, I would get the 6920. ETA: good choice. |
Get the Colt.
The Colt has a higher probability of surviving high volumes of rapid fire without failure. |
Good choice, I got the 6721 myself. ...not a fan after bushmaster settled the sniper lawsuit, I dont care that the money went to the families of the victems it was still a settlement. I am happy for the families getting money dont get me wrong I just dont like that they settled. |
Bushmaster - its a better value.
Value = Fit + Form + Function / Price (0 to 5 scale) Colt = 5(fit) + 5(form) + 5(function) / 5(price) = 3 Bushy = 3 + 4 + 5 / 3 = 4 Bushy wins4 to 3! |

Maxell27 Congrats on your new Colt LE carbine!
Be sure and check in to the Colt Industry forum when you get it and give us a range report. _DR |
All I can add is that my Bushmaster 14.5" Izzy has NEVER had any issue with any ammo I've put through it (though I don't use Wolf, American or Olympic). Over 3,500 rounds of mostly M855 and XM193, rapid fire and all, no FTF's ever. Accurate as hell.
Both are excellent rifles. One company is pro-gun the other is ???
