This concept intrigues me enough I might build an upper for it. I’m thinking a 20” HBAR paired with a TA11 or TA110 would be fantastic.
At this time it looks like Spikes and Criterion are the only options for a chrome lined HBAR? |

I contacted them to see if these were 4150 CMV as I know back in the day most of their 1/9 twist barrels were 4140. DTI confirmed these are 4150 CMV. After going back and forth on what I actually wanted to do with this build I ended up ordering the DTI barrel. Seemed like a waste to order a Criterion for the AR-RPK concept. Would have ended up costing $200+ more when you factor in getting an FSB installed. |

In terms of heat management, Manta is making some rail covers out of the same high temp material as their suppressor covers.
They have MLOK, Pic, and a pretty badass looking wrap thing. https://mantadefense.com/product-category/rail-guards/ Tac Wrap I think suits the ARPK aesthetic, although the MLOK/Pics are probably more practical. |

Anyone see a use for a adjustable position bipod on one if these builds? I saw a YouTube video once that had a bipod that could move forward or backwards on the bottom of the rail. I was dreaming I could make some kind of pedestal mount and make a old Toyota into a technical!
|
|

Closest I got to that was just QD picatinny mount. I can go from under the gas block to mid barrel.

In terms of ARPK, stumbled across this amazing video - amazing both with how well this works, and that this was posted 16yr ago and I had never seen it before.

op, the ar-rpk concept thats evolving lately as an online copycat craze is much better off as having the following attributes...
1. extreme heavy front end weight for quick stabilized follow up shots on target. the more weight you can get up front the better. 2. binary trigger 3. optic i only see an optic. what works best is the colt lmg. you can get a double tap dual ring on steel plates at 100 yards using a fostech binary trigger. the colt lmg uppers have become rare but if you google ar-rpk theres a company that sells uppers by that name with your choice of m60 bipod or rpk bipod on unusually long and heavy barreled uppers. they use an inconel gas tube that doesnt melt easily. |

Still need to decide if I want to go with a flash hider or a break. This is a cheap build, so don't ask where the DD quad rail is. The barrel was on sale for $70! I don't have more $200 in this total so far except the optics. View Quote I dig it. I don't have one, but what I think I like about the the grip pod is you can use it or its a toolless small storage issue to remove. Go shoot a 100 round string and you'll probably want to have it anyway. Good score on the barrel! For this type of build, I'd go flash hider. Martial build, might be used in proximity to others or set in a confined space, and all that. |

Red Right Hand AR-PK upper + Desert Tech Quattro 15 53rd lower + Binary + Bipod = pretty sweet looking
https://www.youtube.com/shorts/9rswMt4y3nI Same setup in Full Auto: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/SIpcAeS7pzk In the comments, Red Right Hand said they have fired 3,800rd of FA / Suppressed / FA Suppressed through the DT Quattro 53's without malfunction or issue; these really may be the way to go for a purpose built ARPK. You're getting Drum capacity with the carry convenience of box mags, and mag cost is only around $45. Lower comes with simple adapted that also allows using regular AR mags. I've thought for years something like that would be ideal for a FA / Automatic Rifle type setup. https://precisionarmament.com/efab-hybrid-muzzle-brake/ |

In terms of mags, I'm intrigued by the Torkmag 40rd. It's a good bit shorter than the Magpul 40rd, so should be a little easier to work with a bipod.
There's not much reviews on them, but they seem promising for this application. |
