From this thread:
ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=8&f=22&t=258579&page=1 Anyone interested in doing an informal, semi-organized shoot along the lines of IDPA in the Vegas area? I've got a bunch of target stands, we just need a shot timer, and some warm bodies to get this thing rolling. Sound off in this thread if you're interested. And if you are, start dreaming up some scenarios! Examples: "ATM scenario" 1. shooter starts with gun holstered, facing an ATM. He is FACING the rear portion of th range. BEHIND him can be 1-3 targets. At the buzzer, shooter turns WITHOUT sweeping the spectators, engages the targets. SHOOTER can engage them in any sequence he chooses. "Down and Out" 2. Shooter starts inches away from a target. He simulates being knocked down. Shooter engages while on his/her back. I've done the top one during an IDPA match; the second one i've done with fellow Arfcommers while running through various drills. There are carjacking scenarios, hostage scenarios, etc. We can have some serious fun running through these things. |

Count me in. I've got some target stands, and am planning on making some poppers pretty soon. I'll also see if I can round up a spare timer.
This will be great when we get it up and running. -Joe |
Interested, but time may get real tight real soon. I will be buying a timer myself soon and have been looking into making some steel and regular target stands in bulk..

We talking about doing this at DS or BC? BTW I have a timer, poppers and a rifle-capable shooting tree.
You know I'm in (by the way you want to go shooting Saturday?)
Now we just need time and dates. I'm down for either BC or DS (prefer DS, as BC is an hour from me!) but whatever the masses prefer
DS' February schedule can be found here It looks like later in the day is better, so the competitions can clear out. I wasn't sure if BC has a schedule online or not. |
I'm not a member at DS, is that going to be a problem?
Sundays are my church day, so if we could avoid them, that would be great. -Joe |
I'm good for either DS or BC. BC is closer for me, being in Henderson, but DS has better roads. Don't have a truck yet and the BC drive is hard on my cage / re: sedan.
check me in, even though I am a novice.. DS best for me, being closer, as up in the true North LV. Do I have to belong to DS??
Each DS member can sponsor 3-4 people. I am a member, and I know a few of the interested posters are as well. We can set up an email list possibly? Or even a yahoogroup or some other type of organizing program so we don't have to hog up arfcom bandwith.
I vote DS. BC is an hour drive, plus BC requires you to drive pretty far off-road which sucks for people with cars.
Im good with DS and a member - thats 4 more people that can come who may not be members. - Fucking Ammo is getting so expensive |
Tell me about it. I'm almost out of AE .40 so I'll be shooting 9MM. |
Ya well your one of the lucky one's who own a 9mm What I was thinking going with the 10mm I have no idea, oh ya I was thinking Ballistics : 1425fps/ 744ft./lbs. with a 165gr. and 1650fps+ with anything less than 135gr. I sure as hell was not thinking about practice @ 55+cents a round. |
...Here we were emptying your magazine..., through one ragged hole though. Don't know what it was, but that 10MM just shot straight, felt balanced somehow. Like I said, the first Glock I've shot.... |
Yeah, that 10mm was not what i was expecting. I should've saved your brass for ya, if i knew how much it cost!
So are you guys up for a test run this weekend? I can't make it, but you guys should try it out! Sign up on the yahoogroup here There's a calendar in that group, so we can add dates and locations for everyone to see, as well as a picture section for your glamour shots. |
I did a reply, but didn't see it anywhere. I'm in. Post the particulars of what bay and what time.
Weird, suddenly there's a flurry of messages in the yahoogroup. Let me know if anyone is interested in signing up for the yahoogroup (either click the link above or IM me), or we can just continue to post here. My thought is that these get togethers won't be convenient for everyone, and if we do this often, we don't need to coordinate around EVERYONE's schedule; there will be enough action for whoever wants to participate.
Agreed. How often do we want to schedule shoots? Once a month, every other week? Do we want to have set days and times? |
Twist my arm. eta: I'm still trying to figure out that yahoogroups thing. I'll post here also: I can bring those blue alien siloutette targets, which may be too big for your IDPA carboard. And a stapler, but I don't have a timer. I will have to wait at the gate for escort. |
I can not make it this weekend - booked |

Click on this link:
groups.yahoo.com/group/LVshooters/ There should be a 'Join this Group' button. Click it, input your email addy and preferences information, and you're a member. How's 830 tomorrow? |
Sounds like a plan. |
Damn I'm on shift the next two sundays! |
Saturdays are good for me also. |
we'll have to make it a saturday...i'm bowing out for tomorrow
I think I joined the LVshooter thing, I think I posted too.. That board is a bit confusing to navigate on..

It is a bit confusing to navigate the yahoo group.
It looks like DS is closed next saturday. I'd be OK with going to BC next Saturday morning to shoot. Any takers on that? Is membership required at BC? -Joe |
So has this whole thing just kinda died out???
Nothing on th eYahoo board for a few days. |
I am up for it but you're right, no activity. |
Sundays are better for me...this sucks, we have a good amount of interest, but our individual schedules make it difficult...
With that said, is anyone shooting tomorrow (Sunday) afternoon? |
I might have something new by next week.... |
Unfortunately, Sundays are always out for me.
However, on a brighter note, I'm having a friend of mine make me a coule of sets of steel poppers, and a few steel silhouettes. |
