Carolina Shooting Supply's AR style HG. Found that most any Magpul attachments will work with the slots. So far I really like it and it feels lighter and more useable than a standard  HG, has better heat dissipation, and looks better (IMO) than anything else I've seen, I had to drill an attachment hole in the receiver, remove the lower HG retainer, and had a Saiga gas tube (sans HG retainers) cut down by AEnemabay.

Yup, excellent handguard.  I have one on a Vepr.

Do the Russian Pk red dots sit square over the receiver and bore or off center?

There is a captured cross pin that  both retains the gastube & the mount to the platform.

RS Regulate AK-300 series base with AKR rail on my .308 Vepr.  Scope is a Weaver Super Slam 1.5-6x24 in Aimpoint low rings.   Very low and lightweight set-up with sufficient magnification for distance shooting.

Yeah, Weaver V3 1-3.  It's a nice little scope for the money.  It fits well on the AK.

Nice. I have a Viper PST on my AK SBR right now, but I'm going to move that over to one of my AR uppers and I've been looking at getting the V-3 for the AK. It has a 3mm smaller eyebell than the PST which will allow me to move it forward over the dust cover, solving my eye relief issues. The only problem now is that it has a 1" tube, and my MI AK side mount has 30mm rings, so I have to use reducers. I'm not sure I like the idea of that. Decisions decisions.

Its so nice, you show it twice

Seriously though, I prefer side rail optics for the sole fact that should something fail in the optic, it can be completely removed.  I run a Sparc on a MI picatinny side rail mount.  Pics will be posted once I install the Rifle Dynamics buttstock mount.

Finally got it all set up and to the range. Bushnell AR223 BDC on a Midwest mount and Weaver Tactical "High" rings. Once I got it dialed in I was getting 2"-2.5" groups at 100yrds using CBC M80 147 ball. BTW - the 14.5" barrel is LOUD! I like the AR223 the BDC drops are nearly identical to the .308 ballistics so it works well.

Are these LaRue or Midwest iron/red dot mounts?

I was set on an Ultimak but I think it might get too hot. How are the irons on these?

Irons are an improvement over the originals. Sabrewerks.com is the vendor.

Liquidmetal-
Those are some excellent choices.  I can't wait to get my hands on a 23" 7.62x54 slant back.  The dang thing are hard to find for a decent price with all the square backs with junk furniture getting imported as of late.
