Here is a picture of my AK M+M M10 with the AimSports rail and the UTG CQB 4x32 scope...
I do have to say i really dont like that rail, it is a two piece, my scope is what keeps it together. http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b218/avp_bluearmy/2013-01-01135936.jpg Here is a video of my friends and I shooting today. Thank you, same here. I have been waiting 2 years for the opportunity to mount my little ACOG on the AK so I will be sure to post an update as soon as get some word of progress from RS Regulate. I haven't heard anything from them since before the SHOT show this year though. |

He's recently told me Trijicon has sent them a TA26S for R&D and they will have a prototype done soon. After that he said he'll need to gauge interest in the product and then take a stab at production units... So, we're still months away from seeing anything, but it's coming. |

They have gone up more than double in price since @ December or so. http://www.northridgeinc.com/store/index.cfm/c168/i1430 I stripped it down and refinished it myself, purposely leaving the original dings and scars on the wood to keep it authentic looking. The stock came with a fugly black type of paint on it, but stripped off very easily with citra strip. I can give you more details on my refinishing technique if you need some help. |

Looks great. Can you return the Vortex for the Leatherwood CMR 7.62? The ballistic reticle for the 7.62x39 round is pretty handy. Or is yours a -74?
I have both the Vortex PST 1-4x and the Leatherwood. Both are excellent. |

The CMR would realistically only give me another 1/4'' - 1/2'' of mounting forgiveness because it has a longer eyebell. I compared the CMR 7.62 side-by-side with the Vortex, a Millett, a Burris, and a Leupold before ordering, and I liked the quality, reticle, and glass of the PST the most. It was heavier and bulkier than some, but I had already come to accept that mounting a scope instead of a mini red dot was going to be heavier and bulkier than I wanted anyways, so I wasn't going to sacrifice on the other things. However, I didn't think to compare maximum outside diameter at the time. Like I mentioned though, I'd basically be in the same boat I'm in now even if I had picked one based on the outside diameter, because the narrower eyebells are longer, limiting how far forward they can be mounted in the fixed rings of the MI side mount. I can't complain though, it sits nice and low, no cheek weld issues here |

Yeah, I agree that a scoped AK is heavier and bulkier than is preferable. I have another SGL-21 that is the same setup as above minus the MI Q.D.scope rail (and scope). Instead I have an Aimpoint T1 mounted on the forward MI rail section. I love that rifle/set up. It's pretty light and just plain awesome.

View Quote I have had a PA Micro, a Vortex SPARC, a Trijicon RMR, and (sort of) a TA26 ACOG on this gun before I went with the PST. I spent a small fortune trying them on various top cover mounts, handguard mounts, side mounts, and rear sight mounts. I found a couple setups that were very ideal, BUT none of them were working for me. Come to find out I'm both nearsighted and have astigmatism, so the ACOG wouldn't have worked because the nearsightedness necessitates an optic with an adjustable eyepiece, and the red dots wouldn't work because the astigmatism made them blurry or flaring... So if I wanted to ever shoot this rifle without prescription eyeglasses, I needed something with both magnification and an adjustable eyepiece, which is only found on a traditional riflescope. And so here I am. |

I don't have a scale to weigh it, but I'd have to say its somewhere between half and three quarters of a metric shit ton Lets see ... The Vortex scope and MI mount alone weigh 1.46lbs A standard Draco pistol weighs 5.5lbs, the stock, folder, AFG, side rail, mag latch, and muzzle device are conservatively 1.5lbs combined, the MI X-rail is .8lbs, and the sling, swivels, sling mount, flashlight, and flashlight mount weigh at least .6lbs. So that's 8.4lbs without the optic, and 9.9lbs with the optic. Add a loaded 30 round polymer magazine at 1.53lbs and we're at 11.43lbs. That is purely based on numbers I got from manufacturer's websites, but it sounds about right. Although keep in mind we're talking about an 11.5" SBR here with an overall length under 33", not even a full size rifle... that's heavy |
