Located in SE PA. Been on the AR side for a while...a few days on, a few months off. I got seduced by the parts kit ads in Shotgun News, and thought "maybe there's something else other than the black rifles". Built up a few ARs - but folks are impressed when you do that for under $400...I like the idea that you could build something for under $200! Lurked over here for a few weeks. Got a Romy G kit, compliance parts, mags, etc. this past week. The demil was done over the weekend and now I'm waiting anxiously on an NDS-3 receiver. Polish underfolder is already planned for the next build with an NDS-1P ASAP...it seems that I've been struck by this new strain of "EBR disease". |

Hello all! I live in Florida (born in Kansas), am 18 years old, and in college. I've never actually owned a gun and I do not currently, but I will be changing that sometime in January. I've been shooting a number of times and I've fallen in love with the hobby. I guess I'm going to go ahead and make the classic AK47 my first weapon due to it being quite rugged, simple to operate and maintain, while being cheaper overall than the AR15. The AR15 is a joy to shoot, though. The college budget won't allow me to get too many weapons at once nor a single expensive one. So, I'm sure I'll be content with my little AK. |

I know, ran out of ammo... I have never been known to turn ammo back in, casings yes, lots of them! Married a little over a year now. Love my firearms.. AR's, Beretta's, Ak, etc... My friends back home joked that I went over to Active Duty so I could have taxpayers pay for my ammo (thanks!). |

Hey everyone, I'm Dave, from MD, (unfortunatly,) I've been an Army MP for about three and a half years now, and I've been collecting firearms just as long. It all started with a Mosin Nagant M-44, which I no longer have. I also no longer have my Lee Enfield No.4 Mk.1, or my Saiga RPK conversion from MGS. I do still have an M-4gery I put together, an RRA LAR-15 20" A2 with a 37mm flare launcher (soon to be upgraded to a real 203,) a Mosin Nagant M-1891/30, a Vz.24 BRNO Mauser, an International Harvester M-1 Garand (the serial number is one digit away from being all 4's!) a Mossberg 590 that is barely recognizable as such anymore, a PSL, and a Steyr M-40A1. I've got two in the oven right now that are looking to drag me over to the "dark side" for good; a Vz.58 parts kit and a PMKMS parts kit. I can't wait until they're finished! |

Howdy from Montana, I'm a transplant from Texas. I've built 2 M4 clones, thats how I found this site. I also own a MAK90, had it for years, back when they were $200 and change. Just finished a book on the AK and how it alone has changed the world. Looking to purchase a couple of Arsenal AKs, one in .223 and the other in 7.62.....I have the fever...AKs rule....ya got to read the book.

| I'm a new guy around here as well. I'm a long time hunter and informal plinker living in Seattle. I've been drawn to the dark side in the last year or so, mostly because, as an engineer, I'm amazed at the design of the AK. It meets the often conflicting objectives of performance, cost, weight, reliability, etc., better than any firearm I've seen. |
| hey guys. 26 years old. racine wisconsin. not married, no kids, still in college. buying my first AK in less than a month. im just waiting for my bonus to come in. currently have a sks, 1911 operator, semi auto shot gun. was thinking of getting an AR, but i love the way AK feels. |

Ron here. I've been an ARFCOM member for quite a while. I'm former Navy, born and bred in Texas, and a firm believer in the Bill of Rights. I've been reading in the AK forum, and having an interest in the AK47, I bought a Century Arms Yugo underfolder. I really like military weapons so it made sense to get the AK as part of my collection. I eally appreciate the info on both the AR and AK forums. |

Ive been here 2 years..love this side of the forum..much more friendly.I own an AK and mostly ARS and an M14 type.This side is much more laid back and way,way less critical of what a person chooses for weapons and gear...much more suportive here...wish the other side was like that...I posted a pic way back of my M4 type..I have 4 and becasue I had a fake aimpoint I never heard the end of it..I like this side.

DocV-won't say how old, but a lot closer to 50 than 40! New to the board and firearms in general. Married, 3 young 'uns. US Navy 17 years, currently in Jacksonville FL, soon to relocate to Camp Lejeune. Got into shooting late in life. Just bought a Saiga .308. I have a variety of handguns, a PLR-16, KELTEC 2000, M-1 carbine, Mauser, and of course the Saiga. I like stuff I can take apart and tinker with. I think that's the attraction with the 'dark side'. I'd be afraid to mess with a 1000.00 AR. Went to my first FDCC shoot last month and had a blast. Look forward to the next one. |
| Names Don, 51, married 27 years. 4 kids (3 girls, 1 boy) Just got my first grandchild (a girl). As you can see, I live in CA, so I'm pretty much limited to building an AK if I want one. I have a few threads helping me decide if I want to, and at this point, I'd really like to. I've only been into guns for less than 4 years. but I've built up quite an arsenal, about 18 handguns, and close to 25 rifles. So much stuff that I need another gun safe. Just finished building a AR using a Wilson Tactical lower receiver, and an Lewis Machine and Tool upper. That was pretty easy, so I thought I'd give a try building an AK. Guys on this site have been very helpful. |
Form MI. Have both AR & "AK". Have had most of my money tied up into my AR but just bought a WASR-10 last year. Use it for plinking mostly. Not married, no kids. Am still in school. Will graduate from MSU electrical program this spring and now I'm going to a community collage (which sucks ) for Fire Science Tech. to be a fireman.I drink Jack Daniels, Bud, Vodka, and brew my own wine when I'm low on money. | I'm Danny , I'm from North East TN . I've worked for the same small company since I was 18 , I'm now 36 (37 the end of this month ) . I've been to trade school for machine shop , welding , electricity , electrons , hydraulics/pneumatics . I work with machines everyday (thermoforming) which I use all of the things just listed is used . I have a home shop with a mill , lathe , blasting cabinet , curing oven , compressor , vises and hand tools , though I haven't got the mill and lathe hooked up because I have to build a phase convertor for them and haven't did that as of yet . I still do all my machining at the company machine shop that I'm allowed to use anytime after hours . I'm looking forward to learning about AK's ( I've on order 2 Rom. kits and some flats ) . I will be building the tooling to build AK's as I learn what I need and what works . I GLADLY take advice from anyone with idea's and/or experience , though I don't always used it . My 2 best freinds consist of 1 very good tool maker and the other is an engineer/tool designer , so I do have back up when I get in over my head . I hope to make some freinds here and I have already learned very much , THANKS everyone for that . I will be glad to help anyone anyway I can . I guess all in all , just a gun guy . |

Well, I've been on ARFCOM since 2002 and I had a few AKs in the past but sold them. I've been a long time AR collector/shooter/builder and decided it was time to return to the dark side  .I recently purchased a Yugo M70 and I gotta say it's the best AK I have ever owned. The AK forum has been outstanding for much needed info and I thank all who helped me. Now all I need to do is get a bunch of mags (75 round drum is going to be a must have ) and lots of ammo.

Hello, I apologize for not introducing myself earlier. I have posted but never did the proper introduction. Living in the great state of Texas and a long time gun enthusiast/hunter. I started collectiong military type weapons 40 years ago. I have bought and sold a number of them and finally sold all of them off in 1984. At that time I sold my last HK-91,HK-93,FN-FAL(Belgian), and two colt AR-15s. I have trully missed collecting fine examples of the great weapons of the world. Now I have started collecting and shooting again. I started with a Springfield Armory M1A1 2 years ago. Last year I purchased a Bushmaster M4 (XM15). This year I have really gotten the AK bug. I've always wanted one but never got around to picking one up. Now I have 3. The first is a Polytech preban AK underfolder, with milled receiver. This is my safe queen. The others ar an Arsenal SLR-105 and an Arsenal SLR-106F. I am in the market for an SLR-106FR. I am in the process of changing the SLR-105 from a ban version to a noban version. I have the front sight block and AK-74 muzzle brake from K-VAR and plan to have a local gunsmith press the new sight block on. I do have a problem with both the current sight and the K-VAR replacement. I can't adjust the elevation. Both posts appear to be frozen in place. I don't know if this is the result of the painting process or if it is cross threaded. I have the replacement sight assembly soaking in Breakfree CLP overnight to see if that helps it out. If any one has any suggestions, I would really appreciate the advice. |

I'd like to say thanks to everyone here as you have already been a great help to me! I'm still generally an AR guy basically because I know about them and have trained with them often. Hello, my name is Rick and even though I joined here a while back I don't post much on this board. I am active on Glock Talk and Brian Enos' board. I'm an old man almost 48, same wife for 23 years, 3 kids, 3 dogs a cat and I keep koi - a Japanese colored carp more seriously than anyone should play with carp. I was born and raised in Wisconsin and while I don't see myself leaving anytime soon, I hate the liberal politics of the state and the lack of a CCW permit system. I've been to the state capitol to attend hearings on the subject and to voice my support for a system that would allow law abiding citizens of the state to obtain a legal way of carrying a weapon for self protection. I actually vote to further my cause, which recently included the primary for a new state supreme court justice and encourage otherss to put their votes to work. I shoot IDPA and USPSA and am an RO and an SO. I am a Patron Life member of the NRA and teach basic pistol classes as an instructor. I like to hang around on the Warrior Talk forums from Gabe Suarez. His relatively new found interest in the AK47 has driven me here to see what I can add to my own collection. I'm here with an open mind to learn more about the AK and what might be appropriate for me. Rick Ingle |

i have lurked on ARFCOM for a while, but don't post much. i have one AK [bulgarian milled] and enjoy it, though i've been into the AR thing for a while. currently getting an AR SBR together [POF upper], but have been getting back into my AK. mostly into handguns, but anything that goes bang is good with me. i own a commerical screenprinting / graphic design company; married to a wonderful woman who puts up with my crap. i have a two-year-old daughter, a bunch of guns and a motorcycle. life is good. |

Hello there gang; I've should've introduced myself earlier, but was too consumed for AK knowledge that I completely forgot to check out this thread My name is Mike, am 36, married, & reside in Wisconsin...I was looking @ an AR, but w/the price of surplus ammo skyrocketing I decided to head over here to the dark-side & look into the purchase of an AK-74. I believe I will be making a purchase soon (as soon as Atlantic Firearms confirms my brothers FFL)...Unless I make a drastic change of mind; it'll be the Polish Tantal w/metal stock. Looking forward for the spring/summer/fall for putting many holes in targets

| i've lived in ee for a while now, just got my first ak a couple months ago and have a hard time finding "safe territory" to discuss ak issues, advancements, etc. I am not an ak purist, not that i'm against it i just don't have the funds for a collection, so right now i run a "modified" sar-1. very happy with it so far. look forward to learning more about aks. |

I felt strangely drawn to the dark side for some reason. I'm 38, recently married. I'm a LEO, she's an RN. We are currently in MI but thinking of jumping this sinking ship of a state. I've had this forever, but took it out a few weeks ago and decided that it needed to be brought into the 21st century. It did have a wire side folder on it for a while, but I didn't really want to mess with the MI law on short stuff so I went w/ the Tapco stock. The Ultimak base is really solid. I had to take a little material off of the top of the TDI forend to make it work, but it's not noticeable. I installed a swivel on the port side at the stock trunion for a single-point sling.

55, married 20 years, 5 kids age 18 to almost 7, late to faith in Christ (age 39) and even later to enjoy firearms (through a retired Doc I met at church who taught me to shoot, reload and only buy Stihl chain saws). Bought my first AR about a year ago and my first SKS about a month ago. Going to trade a couple of trinket hand guns for another SKS and a K of ammo after church today...what does that tell you? I guess the next logical move for me is to sell my .22-250 A.I. and .308 bolt guns and invest the money in AKs and lots more ammo...yes? Actually, the current price surge of 5.56 has driven me to the darkside. head.gif BTW-I don't invest in ANYTHING firearms related without checking with my ARFCOM buddies...thanks! |

| Looks like I'm the new guy now. Brian, 40, married 15 years, 2 kids, son 12, daughter 8. Started shooting at 6. Fell in love with an M16A1 over 20 years ago. I guess compared to alot of you guys, I'm far from a collector. Got a Colt AR, an SLR-95, and the most recent addition a 1927A1 Lightweight Thompson, along with assorted bolt actions, handguns and shotguns. My collecting has been limited by the size of my safe for a while, but solved that problem about a month ago, so look out! I've been kicking around the idea of building an AR for a couple of years, so now that I have another safe, I guess all I need to do is convince my financial advisor. |

Well I guess now I am the new guy. I'm Vince, and living in Williamsburg, Virginia. I'm a blacksmith working in an area museum, where I also get to play with matchlock muskets. Have owned a MAK90 for many years and now I am getting around to the work that I have wanted to do to it for a while. |

Hey Bob here St. L Mo. 45 yr gun//knife guy since i could stand.Got into Ak's on a trade got hooked now have been bitten by a sub-group Mag collectors.lol Have a jones for Chinese Ak's own a few both Milled and stamped.Thus far been a great place to do trades gather info and learn the power of the dark side......
