I could not locate any information about this new rifle on Sig's website.  How long has it been on the market?

It is just now hitting dealer this week.  There was a 556 Russian on gunbroker yesterday.  Folks are getting them as cheap at $910 plus shipping from TGS.

Thanks.  It sure looks nice and I want to take a closer look at one.  Is this a release from Shot Show 2011?

If the weather doesn't bog down the one that should be getting here Friday, I'll have a good report come Monday.  I'm planning to take it to a carbine class this weekend.

Thanks. Sanded off the old finish, stained with some varathane and minwax, slapped on a few coats of linseed oil, and did a very light "shading" with a blow torch. Few more coats of linseed oil, few days of drying, and a few coats of semi-gloss clear coat.

Thank you so much. I wanted to get into the AK life and the WASR was the least expensive option. I have been working on rifles for some time and I thought that it would be nice to take a rough yet reliable rifle like the WASR and see just how clean I could get it. I will make one thing clear, this rifle is functional and eats up anything I feed it. It may be clean but it goes through the paces and keeps up with anything I throw at it.

Mine isn't as nice as most in this thread. But I like my personal AKs to be a little on the rough side. Cheap, ugly, and functional. All the hallmarks of the Kalashnikov rifle.

My RomArms/Century WASR 10/63 with a couple of it's buddies (Ruger Mini-14 Ranch Rifle and Bushmaster XM15E2S):

It's a ban compliant pinned-on brake. It comes stock on the Arsenal SA M7S. Nothing special.

$6,000 deep, they are nice rifles but no where near worth the price for what you get.
