I should have been more specific. I'd like to do a stockset like that for myself and would like to know what type of wood it is (ironwood, russian, romy, something else?) and what stain you used. It looks great and is currently serving as my desktop background. |

Finished the wrap and added a vented top. It cooled off very quick, even after a 40rd mag dump.

I really like the cheek weld on the wire stock. Much more comfortable for me tahn the wood stock. I picked it up from a member that had one. I had found one prior for $22 but do not have that link. I just got this and its my first...you guys have such great stuff, I don't know where to start with this. My intention is for this thing to be strictly utility if you know what I mean seeing as its my only one (for now). New-to-me 2000 SAR-1:
I replaced the Century FCG with a G2 FCG because it was malfing sometimes. Ran a couple hundred rounds through it the other day and now it runs like a top. I have a Tantal stock and K-Var Bulgarian-type handguards on order and hope to get them in the next week or so. |

Then shoot the gun so you learn how to run it. Only then identify areas which you think could be improved and accessorize appropriately. E.g., a more comfortable stock or a flash suppressor. Software is more important than hardware. |

Got the stock from Here (it's a prototype stock) and added an ITC cheekrest. Attached the Bobro bipod by drilling and tapping the receiver in front of the mag well and putting on a small piece of rail (5 slot). Then just put the bipod on as usual. Free floats the barrel as much as possible. Added the Blackjack buffer, TIS sling, and Red Star Arms adjustable trigger group and have it set at about 3.5#'s. Very happy with how it came out.

Started life as a standard beat up WASR. Complete with Donkey dong and mismatched furniture. I have since added k-var stock, G2 single hook FCG, RPK adjustable rear sight, Bulgy, pistol grip, BU133 flash hider, Galil mag release, and a new gas tube. Then had it all refinished to match.
Its the most accurate AK i have ever fired. Steel targets at 200 yds dont stand a chance and anything the size of a paper plate at 100 yds offhand i own. My old FEG was about as accurate but cost about double. |

This is a referesh of the SAR-1 I previously posted. I replaced the Romy wood with K-Var handguards with a heat shield, and an East German folding stock. It's more practical in this configuration, IMO.
