Guys, put this thread back on topic and play nice or I am locking it.
The pissing contest does not cross this line or the thread goes bye-bye. |

Like wwii sub machine guns, barrels, everything, even the receiver - only it's been torch cut. Why is it OK to sell those if not a WASR? Or are they going bye-bye too? |

As long as they were imported before the barrel ban went into place they are good to go. |
| If these kits were imported before the ban then there is no problem and the only thing the ATF calls a full auto is the reciever and its evil third hole now if you look at most cut kits they try to cut that hole in half or cut the reciever out where it was.... I know I have and many of you have seen them with the hole intact.... But if you reuse the reciever you must cover it up thus not having a auto machine gun,, |
A Man dont have to die to go to hell!!
| yeah im sorta new here but the ATF is screwing all gun owners anymore the funny thing is a while back i heard the netherland have loose gun laws and they have the least amount of crime we have like the 10th strictest ( only thing the UK can beat us in lol) and we have like the most crime thats just messed up and they dont even have the brady law bull crap |

| no panic ever happened, they were no longer importable with original "machine gun barrels" so they now have new production barrels and cost about $30 more, |

| I would gladly pay $30 more to get a gun with a "new" imported barrel, than a gun with a 40 year old 'machine gun" barrel with who knows how many rounds through it. By the way, does this barrel ban affect pistols like a Draco "C"? My Draco "C" says 1968 on the trunnion, so is my barrel from 1968, or is it new? GARY N4KVE |

This was a back door gun ban and build ban put in place by the ATF. |

Was it a new barrel made in Romania or was it one they reused ? It is chrome lined and still looks to be in great shape. There are some markings on the barrel that are a series of numbers along the barrel under the handguard and there is one mark that looks like an inspectors mark, but I can't make it out. It shoots great, but I was wondering what barrels they were using in the mid 2000's. Thanks for any help. |

This news came out in 2010 so I would assume it was in that time frame that they switched the barrels that they used. From the information I've seen here the barrels they used before were the ones that had been on the demilled donor rifles they used. By most accounts they (the old take off barrels) were in new/like new condition. Now they use brand new barrels that are the same milspec CHF, chrome lined barrels as originally used on the .mil rifles. If you're worried that your barrel might have been used before you got it don't. Unless you shoot thousands and thousands of rounds a year and don't take care of your rifle, you have no chance of wearing out your barrel in your lifetime. |

At SHOT 2012, at the Century Arms booth, the sales man I spoke to said that they are going to start putting New US made NON-Chrome Lined barrels on their WASR series of rifles. This is the first I've herd of "New Romanian MIL-SPEC Chrome Lines Barrels" in any WASR, can anyone link me to one for sale or something showing that they are actually making the WASR as the OP said. (not that I don't believe him) I am just curious |

(not that I don't believe him) I am just curious Perhaps that sale person should read this thread as well since Century doesn't Build them, they are built in Romania. Century merely imports them as pre built single stack rifles and swaps out enough parts to make them 922 compliant so they can open the mag wells to accept standard mags. It wouldn't be cost effective for them to pull off the Romanian barrels and add inferior US barrels to them. The rifles have had Chrome lined, CHF .mil spec barrels in them since they've been imported. Take the time and read this thread, it will answer all of your questions. |
