1. Because it's a pain in the ass to switch a bunch of uppers between a smaller number of lowers. I want to have a number of functional rifles, not a pile of parts. 2. LMT does not make 6.8SPC barrels for the MRP yet. The one with the PRI tube is 6.8. |
I was just joking around. I don't know anything about the guy. It really doesn't matter a hill of beans what I think of his desire to have more than one rifle. I was just curious if there was some logic to it that I hadn't considered. |
Its all smoke and mirrors, but thankyou. The SP-1 is all original, and regardless of how beat it gets, she isn't going to every see refinishing.! |

You can always add it to a favorits folder in your browser , while your waiting for this site to accept CC's  But in 1 day I will stick to what I've posted in the past and use paypal on my 90th day

Tell me about the scope mount and back-up sight, and more importantly, what should I pay for them? |
Help me understand something... Why put a $100-$150 optic in a ~$125 mount? |
Because i didnt buy the mount  I had the el cheapo optic on an el cheapo mount and ended up tradeing an item for the ARMS mount. Its just one step closer to haveing a true Aimpoint which I am going to obtain one day  The Tacpoint will then be reunited with its el cheapo mount and installed on my other rifle........... The Tacpoint does what its designed to do, its just not an Aimpoint.. Good for plinking though....

| Here's my Knights Armament SR-15 M-4. I added a M-4 retracticable stock asap. I think it shoots more relibaly with the "H" buffer in it than with the standard A2 stock on it. Also added a tactical latch, scope with QD riser, vertical foregrip, and GI sling. Next, I'm going to get rid of the fake flash hider, thread the barrel, and add a KAC flash hider. my finished "no ban" rifle. no evil bayo lug though, cmmg's flip up fronts don't have bayo lug hmasterCMMG upper, 14.5inch 1/7 m4 profile, with permanent phantom voltor carbine stock. TD grip and vertical grip. Started life as a Bushmaster postban M4A3 but didn`t stay like that for long. Zak-Smith, I think you are crazy, I always use fill flash. There are very few times when a modest use of fill flash doesn't help my pics..... I'll add to your list that pictures taken which fall under the "gun on the floor" label are boring, no matter how exciting the subject matter is. |

Sure, being in the right place(s) at the right time(s) I was able to buy all new parts and assemble that AR15 for under $160. The barrel is a SS match grade with a slow twist, but since I never shoot anything other than 55 grain out of this AR, it doesn't bother me any. I have since refinished it, and wrote up a refinishing article about it with Norrells Moly Resin, but I haven't had a chance to take a decent picture of it since its been refinished. Could I build another for the same price, nope, but good people look out for me and help me out with gun related things. I return the favors whenever possible, we all end up better off for it. |
Zak, By using primary, and secondary light sources, you will get "decent" light. But by using "fill flash", you are highlighting the details and enhancing your picture. If you are interested, take a look at this thread. It deals with setting up decent pictures with weapons, and getting decent results. Sure it will, most people get on top of their item they are taking a picture of, and the flash turns into glare. If they would have gone back further, or stood on a chair, they wouldn't have that horrid white zone and reflection in their pics. I wrote up a little more in the thread. Take a look at the last picture and how I took it. You have some very nice weapons, and your pictures are good, but with just a little more umph, they could be outstanding! Please take this as a compliment, it has been years since I've done any real work as a photographer, and I don't claim to be all that great at it anymore. |

Ok thanks, does a free float tube install require a gunsmith or anything? You just take off the old handguards and put new ones on, right?  EDIT: Ohhh, you have to remove the front sight base, doh. And I'll add another pic so as not to upset the thread!
