Thx. Those are aftermarket hand guards. I believe they are LSO marked (Lone Star) I bought here in the EE a few years ago. Boywonder777 has new 6-hole hand guards that are really nice.

Now that you  mentioned that name I remember seeing LSO handguards before but sadly I think they are long out of business.  And Boywonders are the fatter style I was mentioning, they are nice looking handguards but that little bit of extra thickness in the rear makes it look a little off for me.  It isn't just his, I  haven't found a reproduction that isn't fatter in the rear out of the few I have seen so far.  The fronts look to be the same diameter, it is just the rear as they taper towards the back.

Real Colt handguards aren't gonna get any cheaper.

Bite the bullet and buy a set (or two) now before the price goes higher.

If you troll the EE regularly you can find real Colt 6 holers for $50ish. (Yeah or higher too. Some asking WAY higher and they got it too!)

I just got a set for $8 shipped but I won't rub it in.

(I THOUGHT I'd hit the mother lode but the rest turned out to be skinny 7 holers and fat m4 guards so I didn't buy them.)

How do you identify actual colt six holes?

Here's what I did with mine. Colt lower, retro furniture. The hand guard isn't what I wanted exactly, but the price was right. I know this isn't a correct clone of anything, but it's fun hitting steel at pistol range.

This is the most prominent feature and what I use to tell real from not. (Picture linked from the thread posted above.)

That thread is invaluable but the ribs are the easiest way to tell.
