He is right.  I had one circa 2008, that had so much red Loctite on the barrel nut, that it was oozing out.  I learned a lot removing that handguard.

There are actually quite a few posts about them using copious amounts of red Loctite on barrel nuts.  They have apparently abandoned the idea, since.

I used a bev block to remove the barrel nut on a Ghost firearms upper.  I had to use a propane torch and pb blaster to get it to break free.
