triggers aren't rocket science
component triggers > cartridge triggers
for the price of an MBT you couldn't ask for more in a duty rifle

Same here. Their mil spec trigure is a good single stage trigger with very little creep if at all. The other one I like to use is their ACT trigger. It is a little bit more tuned and it's coated with a nickel-boron type finish and produces a very smooth trigger pull that doesn't feel heavy nor too light.

$63 bucks.

RTG parts has the Unity box triggers w/3.5lb single stage  for 50-60 bucks.

I've used them on some builds....they work fine for .223/5.56 and 9mm guns.

They didn't work as well on .22LR build that uses the Ceiner style BCG.

MTB all the way. 3 of my rifles have em. The other two have a RRA national match.

Can't go wrong with either. The improvement over the dogshit milspec stock trigger is dramatic.

If you want an excellent quality two stage trigger, I have changed over from the Rock River Arms two stage national match varmint (3.5#) when the price inched up to near the $100 mark to the Midway Stoner (read that made by Schmid) NiB two stage 4.5 pound and put in the JP yellow trigger spring (NOT THE HAMMER SPRING) and get a 3.5-4 pound pull.  They are usually on sale for $69 and are excellent triggers.  Don't be put off by the Midway Stoner brand, some of that branding is junk, but the triggers made by Schmid are top notch.  They give about a 2.5 pound first stage pull and a one to 1.5 pound second stage pull with the JP yellow trigger spring ($10).  With the stock springs it is about a 4 to 4.5 pound pull, ~ 2 to 2.5# first stage and 2# second stage.  I have put thousands of rounds through them on my AR-22s and they get dirty as hell but have never failed.  On the .22s, I did try the yellow hammer spring but got way too many misfires so after going back to the red (factory) spring, I have not had any more misfires.   The triggers work equally well in several .458 SOCOMs and 5.56, so caliber doesn't matter.

Smooth, yes, but stiff AF with the original spring

I used a cmmg 2 stage LPK one time. I hated that trigger. Way too heavy. I'd go with an MBT if you're trying to be budget friendly. It's not as cheap as some, but it's a good trigger and great value for it's price point.

I have a *lot* of triggers, but the PSA custom 3.5lb drop-in is the one I have the most of. I believe I have 8 of them.

I have a MBT, it's nice.  I've never used a Geissele but for my uses the MBT was perfect.

If I ever get around to it, I'll pick up one of the newer flat faced ones.

i usually have either whatever milspec came in the lower, or CMMG (lately) or MBT, but I have this one JP single stage I used to shoot high power with.  I took that rifle to the range along with another that has an MBT to see which patterns better - literally swapped the same scope onto both to ensure equal treatment etc.  one thing I noticed is just how awful the JP was compared to the MBT and that JP used to be my best trigger once.  those MBT's are just so smooth and light at the break.

For a mod it surprises me we still need to have this discussion.

A Geissele is a drop in. Even says so on the package. It does not require gunsmithing or fitting. It requires you to not be a moron and that's about it. It takes 2 minutes to install and doesn't introduce new issues into the build that were never there to begin with, unlike cassette triggers.
Link Posted: 8/14/2024 9:57:33 PM EST
[#41]
Agree.  All triggers are "drop in", even the Larue.  All you have to do is insert 2 pins.

Not sure where OP leans on this, but if looking for a "cassette" style trigger, should indicate thus

I just built a lower with a BCM LPK with the PNT Trigger.  For a single stage trigger it is pretty nice.  I have two Laure MBT on other rifles.  But I got them when on sale a long time ago.

Primary Arms has just the BCM PNT Trigger on sale for $50.  PA BCM Trigger $50

thanks for all the input...........I have been in the AR15 game since 1989 and this is the first other than parts kit trigger I have purchased..........I went with the CMC 2.5 drop in unit..........100 bucks at Palmetto State Armory.........nice crisp and clean break.......the trigger that was in the particular rifle had horrible creep.........I have not put a pull gauge to it, but it feels nice......thanks again for all the suggestions...

The OP stated budget in the subject.  I would assume that price is out of the range the OP is looking for.
