Oh yea I assumed you'd sell everything else, but still that's a $2k gun you stripped down even if that's not quite what you paid for it lol

And don't think I'm being critical at all, I envy your ability to do that and enjoyed seeing the outcome. Very cool and unique setup you put together.

I bought the upper only so I'm in about half. Maybe my pain can open the door for others if they'd sell the receiver separately. I think they'd sell well.

Ah I see, that's much more palatable. Idk anything about the 416 market other than it's $$$$$$, but it seems like a good idea honestly. Shouldn't be too long now before people start getting bored with plain old AR mlok stuff releasing again and again.

10" and mini recce are GWOT-inspired. The other stuff, maybe not so much.

Colt AF 14.5 dated 05/01. Also got a Gen 1 SOPMOD to toss on it. She will be the MRE candidate. I can almost see the finish line! Imageshack is cock blocking me from uploading right now. Anyone else having this issue?

Lol the Global War On Hosting is changing rapidly. Catch up, bro! I just picked up a never-used FDE B5 SOPMOD for $40 to throw on my new 10.3 URGI

I have Imgur but I've tried everything and the pictures never post here.

I need to grow some cajones and start chopping stuff up. Been talking to a member here about doing some rail fuckery to bastardize my Operation Gothic Serpent carbine, but I know I can't get that done without messing it up. That'll make the purists cry when it's done.

Not really a clone, but inspired by the design of the weapon itself.

former Mod H, got bored with it and just sold off the legit forearm, stock and optic. Gonna go with a black mk8 Gman rail, badger unimoint and most likely a burris RT-6 for a recce look.

SAM-R with go wild optic. Leather MRT sling inbound from eGay. Everything else is all cloney.

Another piece to the pre/early GWOT puzzle arrived for my M4A1. Not the correct year but thought this date was pretty cool since it's my birthday. What year was the KAC 600m rear introduced? Trying to keep this rifle all within a few years so I'm thinking from '99-'01

Not sure exactly but my M4 had knights rails in early 2001 when I got to my unit. While I didn’t have the same M4 the whole time, I guarantee we all had the same rails and none of them were replaced.

I meant the year wasn't the same as my birth year, but the month and day match up. I was curious about the year the KAC 600M rear sight was introduced. Or 300m.

Circa June 2004, my M4 and AT4 somewhere along highway 1 on the way to BIAP from Kuwait. At the time, I was manning the 240b and had my M9.

That’s what I’ve got on my Mod V (Mod H with a MUR upper ) and it’s a damn good optic for the money.

I guess a mini H could go in here.

Also,

What's the consensus on Sawmans recce? Think that's a 14.5 with 12th model tucked in the tube?

IIRC, it was stated to be 14.5" with a 12th.

It's a 14.5 with an original OPS Inc can, same kind likely as 90s 723 and 727s. There's no visible knurling, and the original cans had knurling on the blast baffle/collar end which would mostly be under the handguard.

12th model seems to only have been designed/made concurrently with the SPR program around 99-2000. Allegedly the Sawman recce pic was taken around that time so likelihood it was a 12th is very low. Also actual 3rd models were .30 cans for bolt guns, we've been mislabeling the OG Ops cans as 3rd Models for a long time.

I’ll get some better pictures once I get the rifle out to shoot.  Just got the scope mounted and leveled.  Saw a bunch of these FSP recce’s with the Viper and I fell in love.  I think I just want to throw a bipod on.  Anyone else rocking a similar setup with a FSP upper?" />

Mostly clone, with optics freedom. Fresh leather applied.

What scopes were they using back when the MRE was a thing in the wild? What's comparable and readily available today if not going "cloney"?

I'm leaning towards a Comp M2 or something like that, but the MRE makes for such a badass recce rail.

I can’t decide if this looks stupid or not. This RIS was left over from another build it didn’t get used on. I was going to sell it and use a G Mk16 for the 9mm but I’ve lost interest in that idea. This is just a mock up to get an idea of what it would look like.

All rustoleum camo.

OD green, foliage green (the light mossy green), and earth brown.

Well said.

Got a 511 on the way for my GWOT thing. Just gotta send the upper off to John at Retro Arm Works for one of his minty fresh pin and welds. Last thing I need then is an ECOS-C riser for the eotech. Really excited to finish this one..
