Just an FYI - the odds of Ron responding to an email are about 3%.

Anyone know where I can get a Douglas/Krieger/Lilja or something in that class in a 18-20" Rifle length gas barrel? Doesn't even need to be threaded, will be cut down by D. Wilson to 16.x" anyway.

He is.

It's just much much easier to call him.

There's been times where I call him, leave a message, don't hear shit for weeks upon weeks, then he calls and says I'm done, pay up LOL

This is the way.

Call him is the way.  I had my collar in probably a week after I spoke to him.

FSP or non? I've always thought the Leupold Mk6 Block II SPR/recce thing was pretty slick. Lots of magnification for that setup, though.

You're gonna be hard pressed to get me to buy any Leupolds that aren't clones.  The mk5 was one of the shittiest fucking scopes I've ever bought.

edit - non FSP

The CA was so bad that I couldn't read a super limit sign at 500 yards.  Leopold told me the infinity focus was off.  It made zero difference.  Fucking cheap ass vortexes have better image quality.

This is coming from someone who thinks Mk4 clarity is king.

These 3 piece collars need the barrel turned down to 0.748". Is that to ensure proper fitment, or just following the original design? Is there any reason not to have it bored out to fit all of my barrels?

ETA: there looks to be enough room to spare. Wondering if it's smarter to get a local machine shop to replicate the inner sleeve but with more wiggle room that matches the barrel diameter. Luckily all of my barrels are the same spec against the FSB, but I'd hate to fuck up this mount on a hunch and it's not snug.

Took the mre nsw to the range this morning.

I'm so torn on the barrel.  The barrel is by no means a tack driver, however, it shoots shit ass m193 really well.  Basically it does nothing great, but everything well.  My more expensive barrels couldn't hit a barn with m193.

I can if i try supppperrr hard to get 2.25 to 2.5 moa from m193 with my Douglas 16 spr Barrel. That was with my 1-6. Maybe this weekend or the following I'll make it to the range and get my 2-10 zeroed and try for groups with 193.

The only thing M193 shoots well out of for me is my $130 Rosco barrel and my Bulgarian AK102.

My Noveskes can’t shoot M193 for shit but they love M855. Go figure.

Then your old MRE can’t run anything other than 69gr match but with that it’s sub-moa. M193 was still at around 2.5 moa though.

I hate barrels. They remind me of non-sequential semi-truck transmissions. Finicky little bitches.

The barrel in my H is like that. Feed it the best match ammo and it's 1.25", give it bulk 193 and it's 1.25"-1.5". Annoying but at least that means I don't have to drop coin on expensive ammo for it.

I still have an unopened 500 box of sierra 77gr smk's; since I started loading with 75's I haven't worked on 'em.

I really miss buying 75gr Hornady steel match. That shit was cheap and damned accurate. Other than BH and CBC, it was the best bang for the buck on factory precision ammo.

Very true regarding the 75gr steel match.  It was always 0.90 MOA to 1.25 MOA in any barrel I shot it in.  I’m on my last 500 rounds of it.  It’s my preferred round for hogs actually.  Hopefully if it becomes available again I’ll be able to pick up another few cases.

I always wondered what a Block II with a flush AEM5 would look like.  With an NX8, I feel like it's the ultimate updated NSW Recce.

well, i couldnt get the holland to zero today, itd group then loose zero and id have to start over. i did this about 4 times before i gave up.  cool thing is the groups i did get were roughly .75-1.0 moa with the IMI 77gr.

itd like shift about 4 or 5 inches randomly.
im going to remount the scope, double check the torque on the rings and recce rail.  im sure its something with the rings, the rifle zeroed fine with last scope.

also going to order a couple 20rd pmags for this thing as my 30rd may have been contacting the bench, which could also have caused it.  all gonna have to wait till after my wedding next month.

also, the aimpoint on the A1 zeroed in less 10 rounds so im happy with that.

Always wanted mine to be marked M16 instead.

With how inflated the prices on the full 660 kits it’s near impossible to find the mount on its own now. There’s the whole setup on eBay right now for $285 with 14 hours left. Craziness.

Lilja sells direct, I don't know any other way to get one.

Precision Reflex Inc. sells Douglas 18" rifle gassed SPR profile barrels, so does Compass lake Engineering.

You don't want a 16" rifle gassed barrel. An intermediate gassed or mid-length gassed works better in a 16".

In my defense we were doing a yard sale and we set up a big tent and hot dog roller for the kids to sell hot dogs.  630 was like noon for us that day.
