No! Life's been getting in my way!! Your rifle is HOT!!! Still looking for that thing we talked about btw for your homie.

I did score a surefire 660 for the cause tho! Someone on here probably got the Aimpoint 3000 I was after. Missed it by a buck!

Here's my recent acquisition, it's a Model 1 Sales Upper/Barrel (1-in-7 twist, govt profile, chrome lined, looks like m4 feedramps on the bbl ext and the front sight tower is F-marked, so a few of those things are off), BCM BCG, Giessele SSA Trigger, and a Bushmaster Lower. I was honestly very impressed with the M1S upper. I'd heard tons of horror stories on them but pulled the trigger since I was at knob creek and the surplus Colt uppers were no where to be found.

But when I took it to the range, I was completely blown away. Sighted in with IMI M855 on the standard 25m zero target, just like the rifle was designed for. The gun was perfectly zeroed to mechanical zero (windage was spot on, zero adjustment from dead center) and elevation was only a slight adjustment down for the front sight (now that I think of this, its probably due to the FSB being F-marked and just slightly taller) It shot like a dream, every KD at 3, 4, and 500 was perfectly calibrated on the rear elevation, it was amazing.

I'd never really shot a fullsize A2 for groups before and I was super impressed. I can EASILY see why this variant was the Marine's baby on their KD qual ranges. It's perfect for quick easy adjustments with a sight picture to die for. Anyways, here's some pics, I know the rifle itself by the parts isn't 100% true to clone purists, but I tried to make it almost an homage to the 80's/90's 'Cold Warriors' out there, lemme know how I did.

Here's some super slow motion video my buddy took of it as well!

Oh you did good.  You did REAL good.  I could care less about the brand.  If it goes bang....  I might care a little if it was my main SHTF type gun.....  But even still.....

Why the tape around the buttstock with no sling?  Or did I just not see it?  I'll look again.

Great rifle and pics!!!!!  I love woodland.  I also love M9's.

It's hard to see from that side, plus the webgear is covering up the 550 cord, but I have basically two quick loops of 550 around the stock, running through the sling loop, taped in place, with an exposed portion showing, and then a piece of 550 running from the silent sling half-hitched to the exposed piece of 550 going around the stock.

Oh yeah, now I see it in the first pic.....

I did that once very similar a long time ago.  But everyone looked at me like I had 2 heads.  I had the loop come out the top though.  The side makes a lot of sense.

I gave in to California's 'assault rifle' regulations - but in my own (legal) way: found some device that can be installed (reversible modification) and allows for breaking the rifle in two (as requested) and then (and only then) it will let you release the magazine. So the original magazine button stays.
You 'just' have to rotate that lever to break the rifle in two temporarily, then hit the magazine button. Done.

I have just updated all of my AR15s. I complied (but I didn't go featureless - heck I'd rather sell all my AR15s if I had to go ugly featureless - nor I registered my AR15s as assault rifles. I want my children to get these guns when it will be time to).
Hence given the situation here in SoCal, I feel I went the best way for me.

ETA: CD, awesome images.
I actually had my Gunsmith doing all of the above. He is a former Navy Seal (name is Daniel) and owns Trident Gunsmithing here in San Diego. He was in GW1 as well.

I would've gone the same route as you.   Seem like it keeps the gun more like it should be.  Almost any self defense situation you will not need more than a magazine anyways....   Especially if you can still have a 30.  Or are you stuck with 10?

Muh brah - thanks!

Apart from that awkward looking thingy on the right side, everything else essentially remains the same.
I have waited until now (almost the last minute, that is) for any type of action but when I saw that such modification would take care of the whole thing, I FO'd.
Functionality is nearly the same as without and probably, better than the bullet button (or maybe not).

But for me, the important thing was to leave the guns looking as original as possible.
I find the featureless look so depressing that - really - I'd rather have no AR15s at all. I was ready to sell everything.

Now I don't have to; and I don't have to register them as AW (which they are not, anyways).

I can still swap easily uppers etc.

Re: magazine: 10 rounders, no exceptions. So I converted all my USGI and non-USGI to 10 rounders.
I truly don't want to be caught (at the various gun ranges, BLM etc.) doing something illegal.

You know me (at least a bit). Young kids and all. Needs to be done right!

Love,

F.

Picked the upper off the EE for $85 shipped.

The A2 upper sits on a Spikes Crusader lower, pistol. It will eventually get a Bushmaster A2 upper chambered in 7.62x39 with a 9" form 1 can hanging off of it.

My ban era tacticool police trade in. Taken in the spirit of the ban era, with poor lighting on a slightly dirty beige carpet. Nostalgia flooding back.

Yet another BHD inspired rifle:

Just waiting on the light mount to show up. Also keeping an eye out for an Aimpoint of the era, the Vortex Strikefire II will do until then.

Bushmaster XM15-E2S Target. Now I just need the parts to turn it into a real A2 clone. Also need Vietnam OD green seatbelt and maybe a big button forward assist, but the latter isn’t important.

Sorry about the late reply, but it's the Proctor Sling. Although I removed the front paracord mount it came with and just threaded it into the front sling mount like a normal sling; but, the paracord mount comes in handy for the old school CAR style stock. They have a quick adjust feature like a Blue Force or Vickers sling, while looking very minimalist; which is why I like them for these simple retro builds

So if I remember right and @Dob013 might correct me on this but I'm pretty sure thats a PRE-Ban EA lower.  Which some CT guys would give a lot for.  I have a super soft spot for some of the older stuff and wish I would have bought more and held onto some of my older stuff.  Stuff like this gets me right in the chest, like an OG 1964 GTO driving by real slow.

That is what I think I'm going to do with this other A2. I am going to swap the barrel out for a pencil profile barrel, 14.5" with a pinned extended A2. Then I need to shit can the commerical buffer tube and replace it with a milspec one so that I can put my fiberlite stock on it and replace the HGs with some skinny ones.

For a long time I didn’t care for lightweight/pencil barrels until I started seeing more 723 clones, IDF clones and my man @Mister_Donut awesome build.  I think ima cut this one down to 14.5” as well. The weight is amazing, the older I get the more I appreciate a light rifle.
