So I was able to get a few questions out of him. His rifle in that picture is a factory Colt M16 cut down by the IDF to 10.3” specially for the tanker crew guys/gals. They do not get sidearms as tanker crew, only the short rifles. It is a true MG with sear but he said they are not allowed to fire in full auto ever with personal rifles.

As far as newer lowers go he said they are all older Colts except he said some guys he knows in SF recently got newer Colt M4’s.

He also said to check out Agilite on instagram. A lot of good pics on there, some of which I’m sure are already posted here.

M21 has the amber triangle and I really like it on the short and handy 11.5.

I like what comes with their M4 clone.

For maximum authenticity, the package also includes an official USGI reflective belt, to reenact walking around the FOB, while warding off danger; and can of Rip-It energy drink, the true fuel of the GWOT.

My IDF inspired build...

C7 style upper with a 14.5 Bushmaster barrel and pin/weld (by me... not the prettiest job) extended A2 sitting on an old Bushmaster lower. Kind of wish I had thrown a pencil barrel in it, but this will do.

What would be the cost of building a IDF clone vs buying from

http://www.txmgo.com/index.php/shop/guns/product/75-israel-defense-forces-idf-carbine

$1,375.00

Depends on what you consider an IDF "clone" to be. Due to the massive variation in IDF weapons and the parts bin nature of many of them it can be pretty cheap. The one that I built a few pictures up was around $600 all in, and could have been cheaper if I didn't want to use an "old" logo Bushmaster lower.

That price is absolutely ridiculous.

You could easily build your own for less than half of that.

It's a split A forge marked C7 upper with a bushmaster 14.5" barrel with the pinned/welded flashider, an aero lower, and a 2 position CAR stock. It was dirt cheap from a good dude and I'm liking it so far.

In the interest of science, I spent a good deal of time perusing the new "Girls of the IDF" thread Here.

In addition to the "normal" C7 mixmasters, there were newer flattops in evidence. I've put together a few of the shots I think have some interesting variations.

the IDF used to convert m16a1 rifles into carbines by cutting down the barrels to 13-ish inch.
those carbines are know as "Menusar".
a small lot of 25 is available over here in italy  (it's perfectly legal to convert a MG into a SA gun)

Ok, I've been out of the IDF clone game for a while. What is the current source for Fiberlite stocks? EE? Model 1 Sales?

M16A1 rifles have rifle gassed barrels. The pictures show carbine gassed barrels.

The IDF would have to weld the original gas port closed and drill a new gas port in the proper location or simply replace the barrel altogether. It would be much simpler and quicker to simply replace the original barrel.

In any event, the 13"+/- barrels seems to be a nice length. Sometimes less is more.

I don't think they welded over the old gas port hole, I think the cut is made at the gas port location on the M16A1 barrel. (see pic).

12.15" + .620" = 12.77" (which happens to be the length of my cut down M16A1 barrel).

My humble KISS submission. The C7 LW 14.5" middy made an appearance many pages ago but lost to photobucket. The 10.5" is temporarily resting on a sbr lower - soon to be on a pistol lower. It will get a light at some point.

Impressive from any angle.  Of course, I'm referring to the weapons, whether fixed stock or carbine -- right?
