thinking about putting my LW Faxon (steel) carrier in my DMR build (needs a diet) and running an aluminum carrier in my LW SBR build. What's actually available and not a million dollars? I would just use the PWD but I seem to remember that there was a company out there with a vaporware aluminum carrier and I don't want to get screwed over...

But in comparison to some of my other hobbies it’s reasonable. When I used to have a boat it cost close to $500 just to fill the fuel tank. God forbid the thing breaks down!! |

Anyone else into 22LR? I probably have 14K rounds of 22LR ammo between 2 rifles, and was thinking about converting one of my Balios rifles into an AR22.

A new Halosun for the PWD. It fits RMR mounts.
2.65 oz but I'd guess that's with the mount. Maybe even a battery. and get this 100,000 hour battery life off a CR 2032 in the right mode. Probably won't work for me though, stinking astigmatism. https://holosun.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=49&products_id=61 |

i think someone just crashed the holosun www site...I can't access anything there. It just says "ERROR 0071: There appears to be a problem with the database. Maintenance is required." no matter what holosun page I try to go to...or what browser I use.

I agree, not pretty but it’s growing on me. I do like the feel of it but it would look better if they straightened out the back strap some. I do like the way that arch feels in the hand.
They could absolutely put a hole in the bottom to make installation easier. It was a breeze running the screw down with a ball end hex wrench though. I then snugged it up with the short end of the wrench. I used an aluminum screw in place of the steel one they supplied. The grip has a rough texture which feels really “grippy” and the finger grooves fit me perfectly. I like it a lot. Once I get it to the range I’ll have a better idea how I’ll like it in use. |

I got my future forged grips today too. They were a serious pain to install!!! Especially in my tegra lower. Plastic threads suck!!! It's on the 223 and the 308 now though, I like the feel of them and they look very cool. Forgot to get them on the scale but they are VERY light. Definitely had less weight to it than the hogue 15 degree grips they replaced.

Just an FYI to everyone: my class is over, so pwd updates should be a bit quicker than they have been the last 2 months. 12-14 hour days really puts a crimp on the style.

Good to have you back Jek,
I'm waiting on strike suppressor compatible version of their phantom. Guessing it'll be like the normal phantom with more holes and lighter. May also do something like Fortis did below if I really want to cut it to nothing. https://fortismfg.com/charginghandle/ar15-charginghandle-clutch-rh Also, who VERY patiently waiting for Fostech to release there Fighter UL Uppers? 4.2 oz at an MSRP of $100... supposedly summer 2018. Maybe some day I'll get to finish my AR-15 LW project... In the mean time, saving for a Xanthos set. Also, for the hardware section Fortis Ft mounting cross bolts are 8-32 x 1/2 socket head cap screws. Got a couple in Ti! |

Where are you guys getting the aluminum grip screws from? I only found some nylon screws that would fit on ebay but I don't trust those. I think the nylon screw would hold the grip but I'm afraid I would over torque it and snap the head off or strip the screw inside the receiver. I just ordered a 2a RBC as well so if any one is looking for an aluminum bolt carrier I have a stripped whiskey arms bolt carrier that retails for $237 I don't need any more, just throw me an offer. I used it for around 150 rounds with a metal trigger so it has normal aluminum carrier wear on the bottom from the hammer before switching to a polymer trigger but the rest of the carrier looks great. This is what the wear looks like http://s292.photobucket.com/user/Luv863/media/image2_zpso6gbpp04.jpg.html?sort=3&o=0

1/4-20x1 aluminum socket head
I bookmarked this awhile ago but haven’t ordered yet. Probably a few here that would split an order |
|
|
Send me a padded stamped return envelope and one forever stamp for me and I will send you one 1/2" and one 3/4" aluminum pistol grip screw in return. I have an extra 6 of each.
I just ordered $80 worth of titanium bolts from Ti64, they make it so easy. I paid $8.99 for one screw to lighten my walnut pistol grip LOL |

Well i took the bcm magnesium kmr 10 without the anti rotation plate, with v7 Ti blocks, v7 sling mount, and black label holsters aluminum barrel nut. It came out to be 1 gram less than my shiny new 11.1 in v7 handguard with titanium bolts. So should i rejoice at already having the lightest weight keymod handguard or be pissed that i bought this now lightly used v7 handguard?
|
|
|
On another note the v7 308 hyperlight isn't compatible with any qd sling i've been able to find. I'm using a faxon pencil barrel and the barrel is just barely too thick. I'm gonna dremel down the nub on my magpul ms4 sling. It won't take much, but i think this is an oversight by v7. Where's everybody at? Lol, btw breaststroker, v7 now has enhanced 308 cam pins!

I haven't shot either of mine yet with the future forged grips. They seem to be made for some creature with humongous hands! I have medium sized hands though and i can still find a comfortable grip so that's something.

Does ayone happen to know the weight of The SD tactical titanium muzzle brake? Looking for something to pin and weld to a 14.5 and I like the option of attaching one of their pig covers to minimize concussion.

I wonder what the failure mode is when force is applied to the rear of the sight. Looks pretty poorly designed but I could be wrong. Wonder if the manufacture has done any testing.
