My local FFL homey just told me he had a couple 20" gov't profile chromelined 1:7 Wilson barrels on LMT uppers...asked if I wanted one. My reply was of course "oh hell yes!"
lol....with a complete CMMG lower w/ RRA LPK and an A2 stock I'm scooping a stock rifle with a carry handle for $850. Not too shabby! I have a full MIAD enroute from PK Firearms for another $40. Already have a sling set up for it and a NM front sight post I'll install. And I thought today was gonna be just another day..... |

Sabre Defence govt profile 1x7" upper, CompM2 CCO on a LAR Grizzly lower, no-frills, about as close to what I carried for years before I was issued my M4. I like it. I often think about going that route with my A4gery. But something keeps holding me back. I guess it’s because when I was in the service we had the A1 and then the A2, and those two rifles are what I trained on and became the most familiar with. My A4gery originally had MI HG’s, KAC panels and KAC grip. I removed those, re-installed the original HG’s, and added a section of Weaver rail for a light. That’s the extent of accessories on my rifle. ETA: Pic |

Here is the A4 clone I put together (my first AR, not counting the M-16's I carried in the military for years).
S&W M&P stripped lower 20" HBAR 1-9" (not chrome lined though) A2 stock Carry handle Parts from various sources. Have 450 rounds through it now with no problems (though it did not like feeding wolf ammo from the mags, would not miss fed when a round would come up enough to be picked up by the bolt, no problems with any brass cased ammo at all). http://i660.photobucket.com/albums/uu325/MSgtZ/DSC00023s.jpg http://i660.photobucket.com/albums/uu325/MSgtZ/DSC00021t.jpg |

Very nice Hokie. I just ordered my lower and thats a spitin image of what my build will be, even down to the Magpul grip. Altho I am still indecisive about either using a carry handle or putting a KAC 600m BUIS on it in case I go with an ACOG in the future. |

I went with the MIAD only because it's on every other AR in my posession....every other grip now feels wierd to me. I love having this rifle in the safe. I'm gonna keep the carry handle on mine - not sure if I want a variable or ACOG on there so until lightning strikes me I'll likely take some time to make the choice! |

Hokie, what type of sling is that on your rifle there? Is it a silent sling that you rigged yourself, or did you buy it somewhere? How and with what did you attach it to the buttstock and handleguard?

They no longer carry it but these guys do: http://redi-mag.com/Shop/pc/viewPrd.asp?idproduct=13&idcategory=7 I really like it. In fact, I could make a convincing arguement that I bought the rifle to accompany the sling. Reminds me of a BFG Vicker's Sling with better attachment points for a factory rifle. It's not for a tactified AR with rails and whatnot. But for a 20" rifle with standard furniture - it's a real sexy upgrade from a basic factory sling. Gives me waist level carry and a quick shouldering. As you bring the rifle up - the sling drops off the end of the stock and stays way the hell outta Hokie's work-zone. Way less cumbersome than any 3-point sling and it's easier to carry waist level than any 2-point sling. At the hips, the gun stays vertical without wanting to flop left or right. When tossed over the back so it hangs freely, the rifle's muzzle is at my calf. For what I use this rifle for...it's perfect. If you had to walk, stand, march, or run with your M16 clone - it's a nice set up. Simple too. One adjustment point. No QD points or multiple buckles to mess with. It connects to the gun using the existing sling loops. Same pic of my gun, for reference: |

Way cool. The reason that I asked is that a while ago I rigged the sling that came with my rifle in a identical way, using paracord. I rigged my sling to be quick adjust in the same way as your sling. Neat to see that someone came up with the same idea that I had. The execution of the idea is probably better on your sling though!

Since I plan to be shooting it off the bipod mostly it really doesn't bother me too much. However that doesn't mean that I'm not on the lookout for a Gov't Profile barrel either -RH Nice gun. FYI, if you're looking for a gov't profile, just send your current upper off to ADCO. They'll turn it down for you. Cheaper and faster than buying a new barrel. |

What did you give for that Trijicon? and which rear flip-up sight did you use?

I can't really say what I payed for the ACOG, I bought it as part of the 'employee purchase program'. Suffice it to say it was much less than MSRP...
The rear sight is a standard Matech as issued by the Army and is one of several types used by the Marines. I got mine on gunbroker -RH |

Really nice rifles everyone. I'm just waiting for Bravo to have the 20" uppers in stock to build one up. Or maybe pick up a Colt Match target and build one up from that.
Having a really hard time finding a 20" upper from Bravo (of course) , CMMG or Sabre. |

Its a Blackwater Gear Sling i bought from cdnninvestments back in march for around 20.00, i really like it, last time i checked though they didnt have any, im sure you could find them somewhere else though. I actually have a spec-ops buttstock mag pouch too, but it interfers with my check weld and just feels kinda wierd. I may give it another chance, because it does look badass, heres a pic... EDIT: heres the link, but there out of stock :( CDDN |

Well broke down and ordered an upper from Cmmg. Its the the govt profile barrel which is fine with me. Should have it in about a month. Who knows I might get lucky and get a Bcm upper as well.
I got the Ras system off the boards and working on getting another lower from some friends. All my other lowers are being used or will be down the road. Tempted to get one of the Spikes $100 lowers as well . I just need to get an Acog for it. I know the Ta11 isnt correct for a true clone, but like what I read about it. |
