AJBello - I remember your clones of your M4s were one of the ones that lit my way when I was putting together my clone of my own service weapon!

Mine is on a "Colt Defense" marked MT6400C lower on a Form 1 that I hunted for quite a while for to find one without paying a massive premium.  I ended up picking up a franken-gun off of Gunbroker that had the lower I was looking for though, back then it was the only way to get a Colt "M4 CARBINE" marked lower, and the only time I have actively paid a lot of attention to a rollmark.  I wanted as close to my issued rifle as possible.  Little did I know that a couple years later, Colt would decide to release 5.56MM marked M4 CARBINE lowers with COLT DEFENSE marks.  D'oh!

::shrug:: maybe an excuse to pick up another 6920 one day and Form 1 another SBR...

It's hard to bring myself to overpay for a rollmark though... I searched a long time for that MT6400C lower, though I ended up getting it pretty cheap after selling off all the parts it came with that I didn't want.  Lots of random stuff attached to it.  However, for probably about a year there, every GB seller with an MT6400C for sale got an e-mail asking: "Is this lower marked 'COLT'S MFG' or 'COLT DEFENSE?'"

~Augee

Yea I've rebuilt my clone a couple of times now. First one was a Bushmaster lower with a 14.7" / A2 CMMG upper. Next one was a BCM blem lower with a BCM 14.5" / A2X upper. Then when Colt released the M4 CARBINE 6920s I knew I had to rebuild it on that. There's really no conceivable way I could get closer to the real deal at this point... and it's funny, my issued M4 actually had the "COLT MFG" roll mark while my 6920 has "COLT DEFENSE". Oh well, close enough!

Current clone roll mark:

Original in country (early in deployment when I still had an aimpoint issued):

Better pic of exactly how my issued markings were (***not my actual issued one, just a google images one I found that matched***)

Yeah, I know I'm a 13er, but WTF ever. I am seeing some non M-4's here, meaning missing the M203 cuts on the barrel.

Don't eat me, just trying to follow the rules.

The big brown truck just brought by BCM 16" M4 upper (with BCG, snicker, snicker), KAC RAS and KAC 200-600 meter rear sight.

I'll get pics up when it gets all together.

I asked the same question a few pages back when someone posted an airsoft clone... I got poo pooed on for asking about it.

My issued M4 before a field exercise. Quickly threw together the G2 (with LED upgrade) in a VTAC mount I happened to bring because I forgot a proper weapon light.

This is really closer to an M4A1 since it's an RO921HB upper on a M4 CARBINE marked 6920 lower...

Leave it alone and shoot it until your hands hurt.

Thought about it, but I'm planning on using this one to replace my current patrol rifle (1975 A1 converted to semi), so it will need a light at least and a RDS.

I've never seen a Colt M16A1 rollmark on an A2 forging.  The happy switch makes that a bona-fide M4 instead of just another clone

Back in the day, some manufacturers used to offer a service where registered receivers that were worn out could be replaced with new receivers that would be marked and serial numbered identically.

I forget the exact details of the story, but IIRC, something happened related to Oly/SGW and the BATF put a kibosh on the practice, and thus, it can no longer be done.

New here as well, figured I'd go ahead and get a pic up. This is my first AR and I'm completely in love with this rifle. I believe this fits the category.

Bushmaster XM-15

Daniel Defense EZ Car 7.0 quad rail
VCAS sling
Yankee Hill BUIS
Tango Down foregrip
Magpul XTM rail panels
Hogue grip

I've got a light on the way and I have a trigger job on tap for the near future.

Here is my m4gery.  It has a PSA chrome lined 14.7" upper with perm. attached A2 hider.  It has a Joe Bob MPI/HPT bolt carrier group.  The lower parts kit is a PSA, and the lower is a Surplus Arms and Ammo.  It has a ARMS #71L-R BUIS, and a Vortex Strikefire Red Dot.

I kind of want to put a magnifier on it, but I don't think it will fit with the space I have on the Rail.

How "authentic" does my m4 clone look?  I realize the optic won't match, but I don't have the desire or money to spend more on an aimpoint or eotech right now.

I recently reworked my Colt M4 carbine clone to make it even closer to the real thing, sans the NFA parts of course.  Lower is 80% engaved with USGI Colt markings and special serial number as a tribute to the 9/11 tragedy.  Lower was milled-out, bead-blasted and hard-coat anodized to match the genuine Colt Alcoa Forge M4 marked upper receiver.  I made a "sleeve" for the 14.5" barrel and had it turned down to match the diameter of the barrel, but couldn't justify cost to re-park the barrel and only hit the raw steel area with some cold-blue.  When used with a crush washer and regular A2 comp, this permanently pinned combination achieved 16.1" OAL so I don't have to go SBR route.  Please excuse the crappy camera pics.  I'll post some more pics with KAC rails and Trijicon ACOG as soon as I get a decent deal on another camera.

Kitchen counter pics, might post some more when I go out with it in a couple weeks.
