He's got plugs in. You can just make out the orange stem sticking out behind his hair.

I had a M1911A1 while in 5th SFGA in 84' and carried my last one in Afghanistan in 14'.  The .45 I carried in Iraq in 08' was had a Colt M1911 frame dated from 1916!  Prefer a old 1911 over a M9 or a G19.  Course the oldest gun I use regularly is a modified 1862 Gatlin gun with a electric motor and chamber in 7.62mm NATO

M3 84mm Carl Gustav Recoilless Rifles can with either 502 HEDP, 551 HEAT or 751 HEAT.  Standard SF issue and then there's that thing called a radio.

If I had a choice I would probably carry a 1911 as well (with 10rd Wilson mags) although your current sidearm would also be my number 2 (think yours is a G17 anyway) cause that’s a butt load of rounds in the mag. I really, really need to buy a 1911.

That’s crazy they issued you one that old. Guess that’s a testament to how well they hold up. Original slide as well?

It’s solid as hell with the above combo. Prob would be even without the Velcro as well. IIRC I used 24 or 26” mountain bike tube. Super snug fit

Ya, I've always stuck to Velcro (see what I did there). The switch already has the rough hook side attached. Just need the soft loop side for the vfg. Or inner tube.  Nice light by the way!

Eta- I always cut the loop side that goes on the vfg, bigger than needed, so that the whole switch has Velcro to attatch to. Not just part of it. That will keep it down better. I also round off the corners which makes the Velcro less likely to start peelin off. And always use 3m products or better. Generic Velcro has crappy adhesives. Seems like inner tube might be less hassle at this point.

Just gotta know where to hit them.

Inner tube sections like Milspec said. I've done the Velcro thing and it leaves a lot to be desired IMO.

+1 on bicycle inner tube for VFG pressure switch mounting. It works well, but I use the electrical tape method because I always have a roll or two lying around the house.

Done some parts swapping and am working on an early Army SF Block I, 01-03 time frame. Here’s what I’ve got:

Colt Recievers (well, Upper is Diemaco, I got it cause it’s different and still halal)
KAC RAS
CAR stock with Masen Pad
SOCOM Barrel
TA01NSN ACOG
Matech (not period correct, will swap out for KAC 300m)

Will eventually wear a PEQ2.

What do you guys think would be a period correct light? I’m thinking Surefire 660/6P in a weaver ring?

it's a jungle mag holder, probably not the same manufacture

the spare mag rests a bit higher than the loaded magazine to clear the empty one when you switch

The good ol' days

I still have a half dozen incandescent 3 cell mag lights. They don't light up much worth a damn, but they do make for a good noggin knocker in a pinch

Legacy 660 or 6P are both good options for that time frame.
Keep in mind: a lot of dudes didn't have weapon lights mounted back then, especially if they wore ACOGs

The TA01NSN was seriously new in '01, and unless you worked caves a weapon light didn't really make sense

Had TA01NSNs in Group back in 95'.  Here's one on my M4A1 in Haiti then.  First issue lights used AA batteries and not good.  Used Aimpoint Red Dot optic (not a M68) and a Surefire with Weaver ring when I went thru SFARTEAC in 97'.

he's talking about an '01-'03 rifle

i know what you're sayin' but they weren't very popular until right before we went into afghanistan.
heck, i saw dudes using them in small numbers in '98, but more often than not it was either irons or a dot

if i remember correctly they had ACOGs in mogadishu too
