Range day today.  Only had a carrying handle left after giving out all my BUISs out.  Just doing a function check of the upper.  14.5" Colt SOCOM bbl, SF4P FH, FN upper, Colt BCG, older KAC RIS handguards on my select fire M4A1 lower.

Awesome! Do you recall the forge mark on the FN upper and are the FN uppers still coming stamped F or raised F now or mixed?

Mixed, don't have anymore FN stripped uppers in stock.  Have one 1KW91 stamped stripped upper in inventory.  Two shown here top is F and Square, bottom F and Splintered A.

Looks like the F on the Brass/Alum enterprises upper is an inny, and the F on the Anchor Harvey forging is an outtie

Do you test fire every upper you rebuild or is it just a function test and back out the door? How about on full rifles? I'd assume only if it came in with functioning issues.

Looking into building a block 1/1.5 ish clone of a m4 and a mk18. Wanting to use a m9xx series light. Tempted to get a m952v for using with my nv, but as with most V lights the white light is very weak. Are any of the non V lights bright or upgradeable to say a malkoff drop in? I dont know anything about these lights, I am used to the 300 and 600 scout lights. I figured this would be a good place to ask.

Seems if I buy a m952 and stick a 16650 and an aftermarket p60 drop in thats the best Im going to get.

Time and range permitting I like to.  Doesn't always happen.  After rebuild, gauge the upper (headspace/gas rings/etc) and do functions check at least.

I'm getting ready to do a simple block 1 clone using a colt socom upper, but I am gonna sacrifice accuracy to go with a surefire muzzle device for sharing a suppressor with my other rifles.

Are there any block 1's that got 4 prongs put on them? If not I was thinking of just going with a closed tine warcomp to have a little bit of an A2 look if you are far away and maybe it's foggy out..

Did this last week and test fired it Sunday.  Handguards are a old KAC RIS.  Barrel is a 14.5" Colt SOCOM with SF4P FH. (another picture further up on this page)

I just can't help it, this crap is sucking me in. All these years I've avoided being a cloner.

...is a Tangodown BG pistol grip kosher for a 1.5 pr? If so, tan?

Do it.

Yes on Tangodown. And yes most in use are FDE to match the block 2 accessories. (Remember 1.5 = block 1 base rifle, with Block 2 accessories) I.E. - gripss, optic, weaponlight, LAM, sling mounts etc

Here’s some more anecdotal evidence on how awesome the Colt M4A1 SOCOM profile barrels are. Sighted in my TA01-NSN at 100 yards today. The two 3 shot groups, left center then center, are standard Federal XM855. I then fired 3 rounds of M855A1 to compare point of impact vs standard green tip. It shot high, not surprising since it’s supposed to be hotter. No chrono today. Keep in mind I was just shooting off a bench with my bag as a rest, not going for groups, just sighting in. Still, 3 shots close to an inch ain’t bad for what it is and my skill set (which isn’t shit). Made me happy anyway.

Gun has a G2S trigger.

Very cool. Same setup I have on that gun I posted above there, SOCOM barrel and G2S trigger. Didn't know it could improve things that way (though certainly I hoped for it)

I remember the tests that were conducted in late 90s.  2000 IIRC was when the SOCOM barrels started showing up.
