Keep the Elcan or go with the 553? What would you do? This is still considered a Block II, correct?

Block 1.5 or phased replacement carbine. The identifying characteristic of the block II is the Daniel defense RIS II rail. Your carbine is a block 1.5 or phased replacement because it is essentially set up like the original SOPMOD rifles, only it has a block II optic.

If it were me, I'd sell the Elcan, buy an ACOG with an RMR or a 553 if you so chose, and use the rest if the money on ammo or more toys. I'm not in the majority with that line if thinking ;)

I'm really trying to love the Elcan but my heart is telling me 553. Even my 7.62x39 build ended up clonish.

Is Elcan going to make another run of their FDE Specter DRs? Both in 7.62 and 5.56?

I'm pretty certain they'll be making more. The fact that they even did FDE runs in the first place and the subsequent popularity leads me to believe they will continue to do runs of FDE.

Hoping so.

Did they ever do FDE runs of their 1.5-6x DRs? Or was it only the 1-4s?

Only the 1-4x's from what I know. I do seem to recall someone taking preorders for another batch of them in FDE.

Snagged a 6920 off the EE so I figured I'd do some type of clone using parts I already have:

6920 (Coming)
Colt 14.5" m4 barrel assembly (coming)
KAC rail
LMT sopmod stock
TA31 acog

So what am I closest to?

Army M4 MWS...Modular Weapon System
-if you have M4 .gov profile Barrel.

or SOCOM M4A1
-if SOCOM barrel, block I if you leave it as isor PR,  Phased Replacement, if you throw some fde covers,  foregrip, light,  etc

How are you doing?  My thoughts, as you asked:  if you are going to be running iron sights on the front, at least use a folding front sight, preferably the KAC taupe front sight as was issued.  That thing you have on the front there may well be functional as a sight, but this is a clone thread and that sight makes it look a lot different that the real thing.  If you're not going to run the KAC, then take that thing off.  Otherwise you have a nice rifle.

With what you have, I think you'd be closest to standard issue Army M4, than a SOPMOD block 1 clone.  For the block 1 clone, you would need the TA01NSN, and the SOCOM profile barrel.  You could run a Matech BUIS, but the SOPMOD probably would look better with a KAC 300m BUIS.  Just my opinion.

I found 2 right before Christmas in the EE. I gave 1 to my brother and decided to use the black version on my M4A1. There was a pic in the mk18 thread of an issue CQBR with a black one on it.

Just keep your eyes peeled in the EE

I know the WMX200 is the better light, but man...

There is just something about a Block II/PR carbine with an M3X and dual switch combo that just looks dead sexy.

It's classic Block II.

Do any of the SF or SEAL boys run EOTECH G33.STS magnifiers on their BLOCK rifles? I just ordered one to go with my SU-231a, going to run it regardless but I got to thinking, I don't think I've ever seen a photo of one on a BLOCK rifle in the field. Then again I just ordered one so I'm just now interested in them, wasn't really looking before!

Also for anyone who has one, I see LaRue Tactical makes their flip to side mount for them. The mount the G33 comes with LOOKS good, but I've got a LaRue LT-755 on a PA 3x and the mount is SO solid. I'm wondering if it might be a worthwhile upgrade to get the LaRue mount for the G33?

Personally think the stock mount is really nice, I will not change mine out, but one thing the LaRue has over the G33 mount is it can't be accidentally banged in or out of position.

I've owned 4 G33's and tried virtually all of the mounts available. I think the stock mount is the shit. Knocking it by accident never seemed like a concern to me. The FTS has the perfect amount of tension. In all of the hours I've spent hunting with them, I only had one get flipped out inadvertently when it caught on a vine and yanked it.

I don't have them saved, but I know there were some pics of mil guys running the G33. I remember one in particular that was US and Canadian force training together. The rifles were either Mk18's or Block I CQBR's if I remember correctly. Probably Block I CQBR's.

Alright, stealing my own picture from Page 732.

I'm thinking about moving the Insight M3X off and onto my phased replacement, along the with 553.

Inbound onto my Block II would be an EXPS3, 3x Magnifier (both tan) and Surefire M952V (tan) light w/dual pressure pad SR07.  Thoughts on this setup?  Input appreciated before I do the move.  Thanks guys.

I do.

Apparently I can't read, though you asked if anyone had one, not interested in buying.

Can't speak on behalf of the SF M952V (I've got the classic SF Scout), but I will say I absolutely love the EXPS3.

The move you're considering is how I'd have them set up if they were mine.

Hard to tell for sure, but it does appear to be an M4-2000.

However, this is probably the only pic I've ever seen of one paired with a Block II in the wild - a rarity for sure.
