Same. Plus, I've noticed in most of the actual .mil pics, they have no rail covers or ladders.

Just waiting on the front site on this one. They sent a black one instead of the taupe.

Sexy!  Kind of surprised you don't have a Class I laser on there, Neil.

Thinking about getting one myself soon - I've spent a significant amount of time running NV, but don't have any of my own.  Even with TNVC's great deals on PVS-14s (I only need the monocular, I have all the mounting and accessory gear that I've accumulated over the years) and the LDI Class I lasers we're looking at about $4,000!

Digital camera is found and on the charging cradle.  Pics are coming.

Finally.

Okay -

First try since I found my digital camera - but let's give it a go:

M4A1 SOPMOD

Upper Receivers:

From the top:

1) M4A1 Block 2 URG - SU-230/PVS-C (Gen II) - Colt RO921HB upper and BCG, DD RIS II, Troy gasblock, Crane charging handle latch, M4QD comp, MI QD sling swivel
2) M4A1 Block 1 Phased Replacement URG - SU-230/PVS-C (Gen III) with MRD (Doctor) - Colt RO921HB upper and BCG, PRI Gasbuster, M4QD comp, DD QD sling swivel
3) M4A1 Block 1 Phased Replacement URG - SU-231/PEQ - Colt RO920 upper and BCG (half-moon carrier for R6601 lower), Crane charging handle latch, M4QD comp, Colt side sling swivel
4) M4A1 CQB Block 2 URG - SU-231/PEQ - Colt upper, DD 10.3" barrel, Colt BCG, DD RIS II, KAC MK 12 gasblock, PRI Gasbuster, M4QD comp, DD QD sling swivel
5) M4A1 CQB Block 1 URG - 4X DOS (TA01NSN) with MRD (JPoint) - DD 10.3" URG, BCM BCG, Crane charging handle latch, M4QD comp

The 14.5"s:

The 10.3"s:

Lower Receivers:

Most of these are still "works in progress," as they don't all have ambi-controls yet.  Also, at least two of them will hopefully (in the far far future ) be replaced with "M4 CARBINE" marked SP6920 lowers, plus I need a fifth... at least so all my uppers can have "permanent" lowers.

1) "Go-to" lower - LE6920 lower with Crane stock, Garmin Foretrex 101 wrist compass with LBT pouch, Geissele SSA FCG, Norgon ambi-catch, BAD-ASS with standard / short-thin lever, CQD sling plate staked on
2) Preban Sporter Match Targer HBAR (R6601) lower with Colt 4pos. receiver extension and LMT SOPMOD stock - unfortunately this one still has the sear block in it requiring the use of a cut carrier - I will probably be sending it to SAW or ADCO soon to have the sear-block removed.
3) Colt MT6400C lower with Colt M4 stock assembly, Norgon ambi-catch, BAD-ASS with standard / short-thin lever, CQD sling plate staked
4) Colt MT6400C lower with Colt 4 pos. receiver extension and LMT SOPMOD stock, CQD sling plate staked

More images of lower 1:

The H2 buffer:

The newest addition:

M4A1 SOPMOD Block 2:

And the Block 1 Phased Replacement version:

Both together:

Here's the Block 1 Phased Replacement "CQB" upper - in suppressed and unsuppressed configuration:

For those that are curious, both "56" and "21" were parts of my callsigns in a past life - many of the parts are left over from them, and marked appropriately, while I've gotten in the habit of using "56" as my primary "marking" these days simply out of convenience.

Also, with regards to the VFG - I'm more and more finding it most comfortable to shoot without any VFG at all - this is a trend that's been going on for a long time, however, every upper has a TD VFG "available" for use - the reason for this is I've found it to be extremely useful during mounted operations - not for any real shooting purpose - but when you're sitting in a vehicle, the VFG works as a perfect "stop" for resting the rifle on your leg with the VFG across your thigh.  It keeps the muzzle off the floor, but the weapon isn't flagging anyone, and it's actually really comfortable.

Here's the Block 1 and Block 2 "deployment kit" setups with a 9MM pistol and caliber .45 pistol:

Block 1:

Block 2:

A couple more pics of the Block 2 M4A1, you know, it being the thread title and all.

The LA-5/PEQ (AN/PEQ-15) is an airsoft battery case I found at a gun show for $12.  It's nothing but an empty shell of an LA-5, but hey, it looks nice for the occasional picture.  Needless to say, I don't use it when shooting, but for $12 a piece, I might pick up a couple more for photo ops if I can find 'em again, just to make my clones "look" more accurate.    An interesting fact - the tapeswitch plug is the correct size, and the Insight tapeswitch can be plugged into it - it plugs into thin air... but that's besides the point!

All of them together:

_____________________________________________________________________________________________

For Mattyvac:

The YHM Triple Rail Mount:

You can see the barrel insert that allows it to clamp down on the barrel.

Here it is installed without anything on it:

Mocked up like one of the photos posted:

That's what I've got for now!  Need a MK 12 MOD 0 clone to round it out, not to mention NOD and a Class 1 laser - but I'm pretty satisfied so far!

That's what I've got for now!  Need a MK 12 MOD 0 clone to round it out, not to mention NOD and a Class 1 laser - but I'm pretty satisfied so far!

I know there was some discussion a few pages back about using Rockset to attach the NT4 muzzle device.  Spin-off question: would it be OK to use a couple or 3 crush washers to extend the NT4 flash hider out far enough to make the >16" length and then perm. attach it?  Or is there an adapter/spacer one can buy that will do this––if so, where can I find it?

Augee, I'm jealous. Also, for the pinned NT4, mine was supposedly done by ADCO before I bought it. I have checked, and it is 16" barrel length.

Looks good Neil. You by any chance going to be at CFDCC next week with that? I really want to check out that scope out.

I hope to but wouldn't be surprised if I missed it. I get home from Vegas on Saturday and leave for TX Monday. Ill also be working on the FDCC Sunday. So, if I miss CFDCC, that means I won't shoot a match at all this month. Thats a lot of motivation for me to make it.

My form 3 might not complete in time, so thats ok

I know this has been talked about but i just want a little clarification, the barrel nut for the RIS will not fit over a cut down and shaved FSB. So therefore buying a complete 14.5 upper and chopping the FSB is pretty much a waste?

would it be more cost effective to buy a upper with FSB, remove the FSB, install barrel nut, chop/shave FSB, reinstall, then install the RIS handguards?

So, now that I'm building an FSP M4A1, I'm thinking of doing an Early conversion. What type of aimpoint or eotech would have been used early on? 552? I'm not familiar with Aimpoint models enough to know. I don't want anything magnified on it. I've got a PSA M4A1 HF upper ordered for it.
