Not as common as the non qd, but yes. Worst case chalk it up to "PX purchase"

I don't know how many of you who have seen this in the Colt 2015 Catalog thread, but this would be the perfect starter package for clones:

Affirm on the light info. Yes, the grips are Ergo Suregrips. Thanks for the compliment.

Hello all, after reading pretty much 3/4 of this thread I think I am ready. So since it's been discontinued, does anyone habe a DD RIS II in FDE that they want to sell? I'm a lurker more than a poster, so I don't have a very high post count. I have a reputable ebay account though.

That is exactly how I started out. Keep an eye on the EE. They come up semi-frequently, but the prices seem to be creeping up as well.

Also going to get into this. I'd settle for a used black one if the price is right and then Cerakote it (I hear Patriot Brown is a close match).

You can find them in the EE, every week another one will pop up. Best deal is to buy one that's on a compete upper. Here's a great deal on one for $550(keep in mind retail on the rail alone is 425), just have ADCO cut the barrel to 14.5 and pin muzzle device or leave as 16.

I was browsing my cerakote color chip set.  I think a 50:50 ratio of chocolate brown and burnt bronze would give you the DD FDE tone. I'm going to experiment when I get my air compressor.

Patriot brown is fairly close by itself. It just doesn't have a metallic look.

Or you could spray paint it and nobody would ever judge you

I understand, I miss my Block 2 14.5'' upper as well.

It's probably the only upper that I actually miss.  Strange because when I had it I just thought it was a heavy piece o' crap.

I've been through five M4A1 Block II uppers now.

It's been a long, ongoing cycle of getting one, similarly thinking it's a crazy heavy upper that does no more than any other 14.5", selling it, and then a few months later, picking up yet another.

Really is a shame DD has ruined the market for building these guns. They claimed they were discontinuing these rails so they could "supply military contacts" but clearly is was just a move to allow them to sell completed uppers and rifles themselves to cash in on the whole BLOCK II craze.

I had someone offer me a complete M4-A1 COLT upper with the RIS II, 14.5 pinned and welded last week for $700.00, I should have said yes because I've had a couple of offers from people wanting $500~600 for JUST the rails.

I was really hoping to build another BLOCK II but those SMR MK4's and NSR's are looking way more tempting now. About as bad as that guy who wanted $350.00 dollars for the 4-prong Surefire! Sigh...

I do wish they would continue selling the rails separately as well. You know things are drying up when a DD rep posts in the mk 18 thread looking to buy the Mk 18 DD RIS II. I agree with the nation that the military orders should come before ours, but think switching to the "only if you buy a complete upper" route is garbage. It's all about cashing in tho, how the world works.

I was just thinking the exact same thing!

"I love it, but it's pretty heavy.  It does nothing more then my others which are much lighter.  Should I sell it?"

It has been fun though.

I often miss my block ii rifles. But then I shoot my SR15s and remember why I got out of block ii. My sr15s are so much lighter and more comfortable to shoot.

However, if I found myself in possession of another su230, I'd build up a block ii or cqbr quick.

My 14.5" Block II URG is probably my favorite, and most frequently shot upper, even more so than my CQBR.

I'm also thinking about painting my spare - the only thing keeping me from it now, besides the fact that I would no longer have any "natural" color Block II uppers left - but the upper is an older gray Colt "C AF" marked upper with an IUID etched into left side of the receiver identifying it as a "barrel assembly" and with the P/N.

Technically speaking, is a SOCOM profile or standard M4 barrel correct for a PR with everything on the Block 2 upgrade minus the RIS II?

Now I don't feel so crazy for wanting to buy another one... honestly I'm on the fence between doing a 10.5'' with RIS 2 or a 14.5'' with RIS 2 at some point this year.  Then, if I move to a free state for a job there's a piece of me that just wants to do a KACSR15
