I've never used an Elcan, but that would be my next choice for an optic, but that's well beyond my budget for this rifle as of now. |

I'm considering getting something with more magnification for the Recce, and letting the Block II have the Mark 4, since I really like it having a variable optic, and making a PR/AFSOC clone to put the aimpoint on. |

I said I would keep the previous configuration as definitive, but that was a filthy lie (and I am still waiting on a BCM A2X flash hider, that I do prefer to the current DD A2X)
ETA: I do want to say what I've done; what I do to these is exclusively for the looks. I am into the looks of these fine, US Military (looking) firearms. So - basically - by pulling back the Elcan (now FDE) I think the rifle looks a lot better; it's a matter of image weight balance, really. Grip is also the more commonly seen ('in the wild') Hogue rubber. It's got something of a classic look I really dig. I am always fighting the looks of the lights, instead. I am more and more tempted to not have a light. Love the look of the PEQ all the way to the end of the rail. DD M4A1 BLOCK II by SoloDallas, on Flickr |

Thanks guys. Just got a bunch of SOPMOD stocks, just to try 'em on and see. So far I like 'em (two B5s in coyote and one LMT in black).
For the sling, I can't stand the brand new ones, flashy looking. Do have one VCAS (in green); will stomp on it in the mud and try it on. B5 SOPMOD (the smaller, newer version, probably never used in the wild) DD M4A1 Block II B5 SOPMOD by SoloDallas, on Flickr |
