Nice! I was looking at the SOCOM Mini's as well after seeing one or two on some Mk18 clones. They look pretty bad ass I think and aren't as long, which to me is a plus. I just wish they weren't so damn expensive...

Ya the mini is a awesome!  I kinda want a full size as well but I'm thinking instead of buying another Surefire I'll buy a KAC QDC full size in FDE I paid $880 after tax for my Socom mini and found a KAC for $1400 after tax that is currently on order at my local C3 dealer. They're supposed to give me first right of refusal once it arrives. I know the KAC isn't clone correct but hey the NT4 is and I like the new QDC cans plus the MAMS is AWESOME!!!!

The very last two holes near the muzzle are replacement screws and have no function. The holes directly behind that are the mounting threads for the M203 connectors on the inside.

For the M4A1 block 2 the rail is the Daniel Defense M4a1 RIS II. The barrels are mostly Colt Socom Barrels, but CD (who's BTDT/Still doing) has posted that Gov profile barrels were used as well.

Depends on which DD M4A1 rail they get.  Standard barrel on a M4A1 now is the 14.5" SOCOM with FSB, those without the FSB and utilizing a low profile gas block generally get a Govt profile barrel.

I'm going to ask here because I can't find a discussion thread that's not archived..  I'm working on a nice Colt M4A1 sopmod block II. and I got to the range today after installing the socom profile barrel and ris II.  It's all Colt, minus the DD ris II, I have an original CAR fiber lite stock on it.  I need to find a solid butt pad for it, it's not super comfortable. (Recommendations?) I wish the lower was actually a M4A1 instead of M4 but I'm planning on using this as my go to carbine.  I'll probably get a B5 stock anyway as a swap out, but I'll still need a pad for the fiber lite.

The range report is beyond my expectations. The receivers are Colt M4 LE6920, and the trigger is the best single stage trigger I have used, and I actually like it more than some 2 stage triggers I've tried.  The hammer looks identical to the ALG, and some folks have mentioned that Colt may be polishing them, and that they similar points as ALG mil spec triggers.  I don't know the intricate details but I'm beyond impressed.  I attempted to zero the Matech sight and I forgot my front sight tool.  I went with the Matech because I wanted a full size windage drum and I couldn't find a KAC non micro is a reasonable price range.  I don't like the micros drum.  Was able to get the windage adjusted and recorded 5 inches low at 25 meters, which I'm hoping my calculations of 8 units clockwise on the front sight post add up.  Someone said its 1/2 Moa per unit at 25 meters.  So I'm guessing when I get back to the range, I'll be +|- 2 units off on my elevation?

My groupings were in two shots and the shots were touching in two of the five groups.  I switched to a different target and shot five shot groups, and all of the five shot groups were within 1 inch.  As I adjusted they moved from left to center.  I'm not super impressed with the Matech yet, but I'm giving it a chance.  I like the Magpul BUIS and A3 better.  The socom barrel is more accurate than my match M4 barrel on another Colt.   I'll post pics here as soon as I can.

John Masen makes the rubber buttpads that slips over milspec CAR stocks. Unless you used a god adhesive, the best way to keep it on the stock is to zip-tie it on through the sling slot as is common to units who'd run them overseas.

Did you forget that you had the original front sight adjustment tool already?  Tip of a bullet or nail works just as well just tad slower.

I got behind a TA31 over the weekend, even with my nose against the charging handle (and I don't shoot that way) I wasn't close enough.

I would have to ditch my rear sight completely and almost cup the lens to my eye in order to use it. I really wanted one too.

Looks like a variable is in my future. I recall seeing a vortex in here awhile back in a kind of bronze/brown color, anyone know what model that is?
