Function over form, hands down.  Although plenty of people here would disagree.

I appreciate everyone's input! I ran the same set of drills with both stocks yesterday. CRT won hands down except for prone( I can deal with most anything prone).  Im gonna just unload the B5 so I stop screwing with it.... Also I now have Lonestar grips on both my M4's.  They are my favorite by a long shot!

I really like the ctr stock but it was to light for me on my clones, it threw off the balance of the front heavy guns.

Use what works for ya.

Go with what works for you.  Both stocks have NSNs so both in the system.

I have not tried the SOPMOD yet, but I do have two CTRs. However, all of my builds currently wear a CAR or waffle stock. I do like the CTR's friction lock as well as the butt pad though; it has the same basic feel of the waffle, just improved.

lol thanks anyway. I found them in stock at Specialized Armament.  I wanted the model with both long levers versus the Socom with the short lever on the right side.  The Socom model aside from being $75 before shipping is out of stock.

gunparts.com  That's where I got both of mine. Super comfortable and pretty cheap.  Plus you see them in all the early GWOT photos.

Have you tried a normal ole M4 stock?  I have only tried the Vltor (forget which model, the one with the removable cheek pieces) CTR, MOE-SL, CAR and M4.  I can't stand the CTR.  I have to Jam my face down to see the sights.  The SL wasn't bad but under recoil felt like my face was taking some of the recoil instead of my shoulder.  CAR is......  it just looks so right, but the profile sometimes jams my collar bone.  The M4 stock is the one I like.  I have yet to find one that I like as much.  I don't think I'd like the sopmod either.  Seems like you'd have to crane your head 45 degrees to see the sights.  No thanks.   It was like that with the Vltor one for me.

Now I have to just decide if I NEED a real colt one or just leave the commercial one I have on my milspec stock.    I put two pieces of duct tape on the tube and it fits nice.

pic of stock, not a block II clone.  Apologies if anyone cares.

What's the most scene in the wild variable (1-X) scope for block ii?  Besides the nightforce 1-4.

I'd say NF 2.5-10x24 or CQBSS are the two most notable. Idk how common they are, but those two come to mind

ETA: Also, I think the Vortex Razor has been seen in some pics in this thread

New receivers because it was time to retire the PSA and replace with my company's, and Demco/Mueller is much more correct than BCM.  And the new Wilcox stubby VFG is rad and obnoxious.

I've got a few stock questions. I know the Colt car stock and LMT are correct, is be B5 FDE correct as well? Anything else? I saw Magpul CTR on the first page. M4A1 lower arrives this week.

Magpul CTR. Easy. - more correct than that non-mil SOPMOD which looks dumb/goofy on clones. Not to mention it's lighter and looks better.

Colt CAR
Colt Waffle
B5 Gen 1 Black
LMT Gen 1 Black
LMT Gen 1 Taupe
Magpul CTR

Those are probably all the most common. Occasionally you'll see a VLTOR or something super random that's either been purchased personally or with unit funds. I always find it funny the stock we see the least - if ever - on real M4's is Gen 2 SOPMODs, is the one that seems to be the most common amongst clones. It makes no sense that some guy would go blow $120 of his own funds just to upgrade to QD sockets when he can readily get the issued stock for free and slap a sling on it all the same.

It was my understanding that the Gen2's are regular issue now. I could be wrong about that. I could swear that was discussed many many pages back.

Heading out tomorrow to test some the current zero(75gr Match handloads) with some cheap crap loads for reference .  Going to try PMC, Performa, Winchester  and Tula.  All "XM 193ish" loads.  I want to know if I pick up a mag of crap I can still hit a man size target from 0-250.

Also going to try out my new Larue trigger.  I have an SSA but I really like the Larue even if it's not clone correct.

Not 100% sure which one, but it'll be either the 553 or that EXPS. I'd love a Elcan but that's way down the line. Appreciate the kind words fellas.

Correct. It's a Colt 14.5" SOCOM that I removed be FSB and factory barrel nut from. I'm going to pin/weld a SF 3 prong when I finally assemble. Just scored a Gen 1 LMT SOPMOD, so it'll be a little loner before I buy the SF and the DD gas block.

Thanks.  I found it collecting dust in a local store.  I was blown away to see it.  Then again, it doesn't say Magpul and wasn't $14.95, so 99% of people don't know what it is.
