For as wimpy as the JPC looks, they seem to be essentially indestructible...I have yet to run across someone who has damaged one through hard ab/use.

Which flashlight/pressure switch/mount would be appropriate for an early clone with KAC RAS?

I'm building out a Colt 6920 into a quasi M4 clone for a bedside rifle.

Since the KAC RAS isn't used on the BlockII, you can use whatever light combo you'd like as it won't be a BlockII clone.

I'm new to clone rifles and don't know shit, but I thought the chart on the first page of this thread said that early ones used the RAS, which was phased out?

I have the KAC rail incoming (bought from EE), SOPMOD stock, MaTech rear BUIS, A2 pistol grip... wrong barrel length and muzzle device, undecided on optic as of yet.

If the KAC rail is wrong, that's fine, I just thought (from reading this thread) that early models used it.

What you'll have is a basic M4(A1) Clone...which there's nothing wrong with...depending on which direction you go with barrel and muzzle device.

Comp M2 or TA01 NSN with Surefire 951 for a Block I clone.

ETA: look here for similar setups.

Just for info, there's a difference between accessories for an Army MWS M4 and a SOPMOD Block I M4A1. Some Army accessories have been used on SF and Ranger weapons, but not many. The M951 would not be correct on a Block I, maybe a very early M952.

Absolute favorite AR by far. Posted a few pics a while back, but took another one and edited it a bit. FDE TLR isn't good to go, but I don't care. I've seen black, and I got a good deal on it. Just need to figure out some sort of paint that matches the FDE to cover the silver ring

If you want to match the FDE to Magpul FDE then get some Brownells Aluma Hyde II in FDE. Its not exact, but real close. Another option would be to tape off around silver ring and paint the ring a contrasting color like black or brown. It might look good...it might not. Either way it is just paint and will come off.

That pic would look great in the CQBR thread.....

So, since I'm 28, I guess it's been 10 years since I bought this rifle. Figured I'd show some pics of its evolution into what it is now.

they'll show up as links until 3 team members (who CAN see pictures) approve them.  there was an issue with spammers posting inappropriate stuff so this is the way to correct that.

also, that's all how it works in theory.  now that the site has been revamped, i don't get the same message after clicking "approve" under a non-team-member's photo(s).  So i don't know if it still works or if that's yet ANOTHER drawback of this god-awful makeover.

Here's my addition to the Block II thread. My Block II is on the right and is close to being 100% complete. Eventually getting a XPS3-0 and G33 and a few other odds and ends. I also have a FSP RIS II that I'm going to be building soon.

Going to be putting a new Barrel on my FSP Block 2 (old is a 16" stag arms 1/9 with an a2 cage new is a colt socom 14.5 with a griffin armament brake) does anybody perhaps have a easy solution on how to install the rail? The first time I installed it i damn near went crazy. Could not find any tutorials except for non fsp, it took me 4 tries to finally get it right. First time i slapped on the FSP first.....bad move. The rest were me trying to install it like a regular ris ii and ending badly, so much so that the bottom of the FSP is all scratched up from repeated blows from a punch. I finally kinda ghetto rigged it by sliding the top piece and the FSP all together and securing the top piece and then the FSP while the top was on it was such a huge pain. I'm stoked about my new barrel but I'm dreading putting it on.

Pretty sure you installed it the way it's supposed to be installed. It's been a while since I installed mine, though. I'm sure DD would send you a pdf file of the instructions if asked. They already have several instructions online according to Google.

@SemperFortis202

Slide the FSB on with the rail. With the FSB in place, move the rail up and forward as far as you can. Install the taper pins with a block under the FSB and end of the barrel. Lastly, install the bolt up screws. You can put painter's tape on the barrel to prevent scratches.

While you're technically correct with respect to the accessory "lists", in reality there is a great deal of mixing going on; so much so that the lines are pretty blurred.  Few things are fielded carte blanche (i.e. everyone who is supposed to get something gets 100% of that something for everyone), some units make individual purchases, some guys prefer older/newer stuff, things get traded, etc.

Sorry I missed this the first time through.

One of the big differences between the military and civilian shooters is that the military typically operates in a team:  I don't need any magnification because it's someone else's job to provide the long(er) range fires...if any.

In reality, "the long shot" is not that common:  RoE and such.  Maybe in the next conflict(s).

Short dots are seen here and there; I say OK.

@KILLERB6

I know there are exceptions to the rule but there is a lot of misinformation about what is correct and what is not. A lot of people use an M952V on their Block II clones and I don't believe I've ever seen one in any pics. A SF soldier could actually have an M952V on their rifle, I'm just clarifying what is actually issued.

You could do a visible light, or visible bright light. You could go with pretty much any Surefire M951/952 type light or the Insight M3 or WMX200 if you like the big blob hanging off the side.  Personally I'd like to see more clones with a visible light, very retro cool.

Hey!  Let's not have a violent agreement here:  there are lists (what's supposed to be issued), there's what is issued, and then there's the real world.

It depends on how you take it off.  If you have ADCO do the removing they will clean the threads on the barrel up nicely but the FH will be destroyed in the process.

I like it. Simple and clean. I like the EXPS on the non FSP uppers. But I like the 553 too. I've been trying to decide which optic should go on which upper (FSP/non-FSP)
