So gents, How the hell do I get a Surefire Flash hider with rocksett off? I finally got the right wrench in from Brownells and this thing is on there big time. I've tried a brass mallet tapping on the end to break it up and brute force while it being in the Geissele reaction rod but no luck. Not sure if I need to soak it or heat it? Suggestions?

I would probably leave it on. Reason being is after I went to school for welding, I developed a serious ferrous metal rust phobia, and the thought of dipping my muzzle device/barrel in a cup of water overnight rapes pilliages and murders my soul.

Personally, I'd warm it with a hand torch and MAP gas.

Since its water soluble I wonder if leaving it in a cup/bucket of a super thin viscosity of oil would work. Would obviously have to be extremely thin

If you don't like the sound of soaking your muzzle in water to break down rockset you can break the rockset. Just hit the flash hider pretty hard a few times with the plastic handle of a screwdriver and you should break the hold enough to get it off with a wrench.

Sweet thanks fellas. Its not a 4 prong or anything just a generic closed time flash hider so I'm not too concerned about soaking it since the carbon build up is insane on it. ETA: getting my welding cert currently, does this make me a bad person?

Does anyone know if a 9-rib KAC panel will fit on a RAS with a CQD mount installed?
|

You guys are doing it all wrong. You're not supposed to brute force it; you're supposed to romance it. Talk tenderly to the muzzle device. Light some scented candles and draw it a nice warm bubble bath. Next thing you know it'll be cooperative as it can be.
