Yep it works good.  Able to activate the switches with my thumb and have a pretty normal grip on the handguard.

got a scoutlight mini - what's the best mount these days for it?  was thinking larue but can't figure if I want an inline or an offset one.

But perhaps there are much better options now.

It more depends on where you're trying to mount it and what you have on your gun (lasers and such)

Well, I have a confession to make. I saw Peter Wabbit Cottontail hopping down the bunny trail yesterday... and I plugged him :\.

Pretty bigass Antelope jack... weighed about 10lbs. There was another one that was even bigger, but he booked it before I could get a shot.

Also made some new Easter friends... first snattlerake of the year:

Then saw this little buddy on the road about 10 minutes later:

Some general Easter scenery:

Lol. I caught him on the run through a bush... I think the bullet probably clipped a branch and was tumbling when it hit because it ripped an entire section of his spine out. Guts were falling out of his back :\.

I prefer cottontails, but I'll usually do something with the backstrap on a jack. My dog will probably get the quarters on this one, maybe even the backstraps too since it was a bit torn up. Big old jacks like that are usually pretty stringy and tough; you have to slow cook them all day to make the meat tender.

I very likely would have on the bigger one - he had a nice rattle. Actually, both had almost perfectly intact rattles cause the whole area is so sandy. Anyway, it was less than 1/4 mile from a ranch out in the middle of fucking nowhere. It was a toss up... they probably would've appreciated it if they'd known I was shooting to kill a snake near their cattle. On the other hand, hearing a round pop off down the road might give them the wrong idea, lol (even if it was suppressed). And it would technically be illegal - although I'm sure they would've gladly given me permission to shoot in their front yard if they knew the purpose. Ranchers almost universally hate rattlesnakes.

If I'd had my snake stick I would've caught the crafty bastard; they're fun to wrangle. I've had a few pet snattles over the years :D.

I was thinking, "There was a kaboom... what are the chances it's a coincidence I can make out some Frontier in that case." I'm guessing pretty remote, but I suppose anything is possible.

Either way, currently Frontier is just junk... when I find Frontier brass it is always smeared to hell and back from being obviously too hot.

That's crazy.
Upper popped and bulged out the Su231?

Hopefully there are parts you can still salvage from the upper and the Ammo company at least gives you monetary compensation for the unobtainable pieces.

Wonder what powder they use. I just made a batch of .223 with BL-C(2) (same powder in mil ammo), and there's no way in hell you could double charge a case with it. It fills the case up to the neck on a minimum weight charge throw.

Can't help but wonder if pistol powder  in rifle case or squib load followed by a trigger pull.

Ammo company's fault regardless.

The "boom" was great enough to cause parts inside the SU231 to come loose, batteries to pop out and internal parts were found on the floor near me.
Only thing that I think are able to be salvaged are
The cqd endplate
Buffer system maybe
Surefire light
And maybe the geissele trigger.

Just glad to be alive really, could of been really nasty.
There was a 5" metal chunk of the upper receiver that blew off.

I never realized how dangerous bad ammo could be until I started frequently visiting these boards. Considering the $$ I have into builds, I don’t think I will skimp on ammo quality. I bought almost 10k rounds of the midway IMI m193 and m855 when it was on sale for 23-24c per round shipped last year. Still working through that stash for blaster ammo. Have black hills 77grn OTM for the precision builds, and fbi t3 ammo for home defense rounds.

I wonder how many kabooms we do not hear about.
