I've been putting off pulling or even touching the filthy ass BCG until I'm ready to clean, so I haven't even looked at the throat yet. But, based on what I can see, I'd say the barrel is probably done for; there's pretty heavy erosion and friction wear that is plainly visible from the muzzle. That said, I'll have a much better idea once I get it cleaned up and give it a thorough inspection; I'll try to get some decent pics of the throat.

I was kinda hoping I'd get closer to the 24k that brodband8 got from his DD barrel, but I suppose that's the price I pay for using steel case with bi-metal bullets. Either way, I'm about $1200 ahead of the game on ammo cost versus brass case and the replacement barrel cost me around $100... so I'm doing pretty good on that front, lol.

Haha... maybe send it off to someone and have it cut neatly in half lengthwise and hang that puppy on the wall. Or just email DD and be like, "Barrel obviously defective, pls replace!"
Have you had any broken bolts during the 17k rounds?
Nope, still on the original C158 bolt. Might even keep using it with the new barrel as long as it headspaces... that way when it breaks, I can get a free replacement from Toolcraft, lol.

Gonna ride this free replacement parts train to the last station, :D.

That's good. I just got my 1st MK18. It's a factory Daniel Defense. What buffer set up are you running?

The majority of the time was an H3 and standard spring. Lately, I've been running an H2 and standard spring because I think it gives me slightly faster follow up shots with less muzzle dip. Rearward recoil is slightly sharper, but muzzle rise is a lot easier to compensate for than dip (and it's pretty much impossible to compensate for both at the same time). There's also the fact that once above 2500rds or so without cleaning, the H3 without a can gets too sluggish, :\.

I'm probably going to rebuild the buffers in the rest of my CQBRs to H2s as well.

Operation Carbon-Bukkake Cleanup is about to commence on the CQBR... shit's bout to get real.

First, I'm gonna take some tasteful, high-class carbon porn pics and then it's on. Already got the RC soaking with CLR; fucker is 2.85oz overweight, which is a new record. Total, that's right at 4.5oz it's gained in 10k. Then, if I survive the flood of carbon sludge, I'll move on to Project Hotdog-Down-A-Hallway and swap out the barrel :D.

I still haven't heard back from DD about a replacement, but I figure I'll need the old barrel ready to ship either way it goes. I'll just use the spare I have on hand and if DD gives me a free replacement, that'll be the new spare. Hopefully, I'll hear something back on Monday. Wish me luck, it could get ugly.

I'm really interested in these photos, both before and after. I'd like to see the wear/tear on the components post cleaning.

Like Highlander, there can be only one... and on 10.3" that's .070" ;).

Use with an H2 or H3 as suits personal preference; H2 is most common and what is on issued M4A1s.

What a case of blue balls man lol.
It would be pretty slick if they did a re-release of the rail. I'm not gonna hold my breath though.

Stupid question but what kind of wrench are y’all using to torque down the NT4 flash hider? I don’t have anything small enough to get to the flats and I don’t want to stick anything between the tines to torque it down.

I just use my trusty Tapco armorer's wrench. It's honestly surprising that so many of the armorer's wrenches on the market won't fit or clear the FSB, heh.

I always do muzzle devices with an old 15" Crescent (Made in USA), despite having all the armorer tools, etc.  It makes doing muzzle devices a dream instead of a pain.  The new ones are not high quality like they used to be so heads-up there...

Sorry should’ve been more specific, It’s going on a block II. The flats are so small I have nothing that fits. Probably smaller than a .25”.

Exactly... short of something I'm not aware of or getting something custom cut, you gotta remove the rail. You could use a strap wrench, but if you're using it to mount a can, I'd want a solid torque reading.

It admittedly crossed my mind when I installed the M4QD on my Block II that it'd be nifty to have a wrench custom cut for the purpose out of 1/8" hardened steel. Just a simple notch and 1/2" driver square.

In the end, not really worth the effort - good chance I won't mess with it again until the barrel is shot out.

Also, last pic, that's a very cool camping setup. Imagine that mitigates some nocturnal creature visits as well. :)

It's all about control (and money). They'll dangle it in front of everyone while asking for some concession that'll erode our freedoms. I have no issues with it, should be treated like alcohol if you ask me.
