Getting ready to start a MK18 Mod1 build. All DD barrels currently sold have .070" gas ports. Well, we know DD supplied at least 1,407 10.3" barrel and bolt units to Crane for use by SOCOM; I'd say that provides at least some reasonable basis for considering them correct. Perhaps not as "correct" (read: common) as Colt/Crane cutdowns, but the above seems to be fairly good evidence DD barrels have been used in issued guns. |

It has the size similar to a n1 but offers a sopmod-ish cheekweld. Plus you can always remove the cheek pieces and run it closer to a n1, but even then, it still has a much better cheekweld. |

B5 is no longer making them under contract. From what I gather, the original inventor is now manufacturing them under the name "True North Concepts."
They appear to be in stock on their site and available for backorder on Brownells under the True North name (no Picatinny version on Brownells that I can see, though). https://truenorth-usa.com/product/picatinny-rail-gripstop-dark-earth/ https://truenorth-usa.com/product/picatinny-rail-gripstop-black/ Personally, I didn't really care for them compared to a TD Stubby, but YMMV. |

Yeah, I could see how the Lanco would be more comfortable with the "base" being longer. I found the leading edge of the B5 to be in the wrong spot for me (too short) and it would kinda pinch or bite my fingers during recoil. It became fairly uncomfortable after a day of shooting and I never used it again; if it had been longer I might've liked it better. ETA: It does look like the current True North model knocked off a little of that square corner that the B5 had--probably a bit more comfortable. Still not as long as the Lanco, though :\. |

View Quote Lanco basically keeps the profile of a kac rail panel which is nice. Feels more substantial. The lack of rounded edges on the peak of the lanco can be a downfall as it sucks more if it hits you in the leg. But can be better as its flat so will work better as a front "monopod" if not pushing it into a barricade or something else. Attached File |

Shot out my FN SOCOM barrel in 2.5 yrs. Rebarreled with a lighter Colt Govt profile that Crane cut down (old stock). Pistol is a Khyber Pass 12 ga flare pistol. In process of making a new set of grips. Flare gun sat in the solvent tank for a year to get the action unfrozen. Czech S&B non lethal rubber ball make it a "pop" gun.

Shooting guns just got 33-50% more expensive, i hate it. besides krdt and his reloading flex, how are you all coping through this ammo run?
I need more 9mm and literally had 1k rounds of Sellier and Bellot ammo in cart at sgammo, sold while i was checking out. What a bummer, lol. I have loads of 556 but I might be caught with my pants down on 9mm ammo. I checked the stock room and i'm down to 3k. That's not good with a H&k Sp5 inbound... |

Yeah, I think it was just after you pulled out your clone build with the G33 mounted on it, and said "I bet you folks don't have one of these..." I shot it and then whispered to myself "I want that..." Originally Posted By 2Keylows: Corncob and Upper looks great. Just needs a smudge of paint though.... Thank you. Regarding spray paint: No. I don't think I'll do that. Originally Posted By Flyit14: I have to ask, whats the difference between your magnifier flippy thing and the cool guy flippy thing? Pictures look great though. I'm referring to the military issued version of the EOTech G33 STS magnifier. It's anodized (aka tanodized) rather than Cerakoted. The rubber "boot" is also more of a light pea-green color and the markings may be different, too. It's very rare to find one for sale and thus, highly sought after for correct clone builds. As such, they usually command twice as much or more depending on condition. Also, there are a lot of imitations floating around out there by way of airsoft replicas that can easily dupe even the most diligent of cloners (ask me how I know...). And thanks! As far as the Cerakoted G33s, I've seen one here and there on issued guns. Not sure if they're replacements, individual/unit purchases, or what; but, not entirely without precedent. The anodize/Cerakote on the G33s is nothing more than a generation thing. The early ones were ano, later ones are coated. Gov contracts were filled first before civilian sales which explains why they were so common in pics for years. Almost all recent pics I have seen are coated ones.
FWIW, I’ve owned 5 anodized ones, a few of them were even new in box, and every single one of them hasn’t been as clear glass as the newer coated ones when compared side by side. I’m guessing they updated their lens coatings at some point. |
