First time running an EOTech in 2+ years, this one was a freebie with a May 2020 manufactured date so might as well put it to use, and I'm glad it didn't break when I took it out yesterday for zeroing

NOT A MK18

But did you see what Daniel Defense is doing?

https://danieldefense.com/m4a1-sopmod-block-ii-clone.html

Serious collectors, don't miss the opportunity to own the M4A1 SOPMOD Block II Clone from Daniel Defense. This M4A1 is built for the hardcore, “USE WHAT THEY USE” enthusiast that wants to be as close to the USSOCOM specification as the law allows in a non-NFA firearm.

I would say it's "visually correct" except for the stock and muzzle device.

I noticed that they were like "mil spec" upper and lower.

There's a picture of an LMT CQB 12" piston upper in the wild but it doesn't mean it was issued.

Yeah, I have done the same. Seems to be a few examples of DD uppers in the wild. Maybe unit or individual purchased, who knows.

You should have seen the Colt industry thread when AU was selling "Colt Mk12's".  Dudes lost their minds when it was pointed out they were not Mk12's.

Yes, Military Big Latch is clone correct, but everyone knows the Combat Latch (longer) is better. The end.

Hes running Scarlarworks Peak sights.

Interesting tidbit on their site about those sights:

"Peak Sights are designed around a modern 15" sight radius. While carbine length rifles have become the norm, most fixed iron sights still use components designed for the M16A2's 20" sight radius."

From what I’ve seen, Geissele seems to be the the more common optic mount in their DDC.

I’m sure there are others, as far as optics go, I’ve seen razors, strike eagles, vcogs.

I’ve thrown a razor on my mk18 just for the heck of it, makes it a lot heavier.
For whatever reason I just keep going back to an ACOG on my cqbr.
No batteries, 4x power and I have a front end cover that I flip up when I wanna shoot at “cqb” distances.

For my eyes, covering the front lens and having the chevron superimpose is so much easier to look at than if I was looking through a 1x.

Best advice I can give you, use what works best for you there are plenty of badass optics that are clone correct. Don’t stick with one just because someone else has one on their rifle.

I'd say your "sidetrack" was still germane to the conversation.
