Correct me, If I'm wrong.

LA5B- "Standard" 100mw
LA5C - UHP 165mw
LA5D - "Scar rated, Hardened version" 100mw, battery flipped.
LA5E - "Wat?"

I'm not familiar with the E designated La5. Higher rated, like the Uhp?

I really like my eod clone with the m6x for those situations.

i currently don't have any situations where NV would be beneficial for me. It'd just be a novelty or an expensive toy, or strictly for cloning. The added bulk and gear needed to go IR out weighs any benefits in my case. Now thermal, is something I could get into.

(Is passive shooting when you shoot through the optic, and active shooting when you use a laser device?)

Clone life doesn't care about your finances or the weight of a product
True, but I care if I'm going to use it or not. If I'm just throwing it on their for clone reasons, I may as well be buying up airsoft parts, but that's a route I don't want to go down. I'm not worried about weight, so much as being clumsy and ineffective. I know that's what training is for. NV and IR are somewhat mission specific, and at this point my mission does not require them . The money is only an issue if they sit and don't get used. Like I said, I have nowhere to use them at this point in time. At some point my needs may change, but right now I'm content with what I've got.

Give me the orders and the funding and I’m on it!

So, I finally made it to the range since installing the new barrel (colt 10.3" cqb), badger ord mk12 go, and 4p/RC socom combo. I also have a standard carbine buffer spring an a colt h2 buffer. I'm very pleased with how well everything went. I took both steel cased .223 TulAmmo and AE xm193af90. 500 rounds, 1 failure to eject, and spent shell casings were ejecting between 2:30 and 4 depending on which ammo was being shot. I didn't experience any excess gas blowback to the face, which was great because I was using the acog ta01nsn with my nose to the pri gas buster ch. The mk18/cqbr system really is an elegant design.

Having said that, would I be run off for running an Ace branded m4 socom stock? It just came in today, and I wanted to see how it felt on my block 2 setup, and now I don't want to take it off.

Did you happen to shoot it unsuppressed? Curious as to how it runs without back pressure.

Unsuppressed, the steel case .223 were ejecting at 4-5 o'clock, and the xm193 was ejecting at 3-4. I was honestly surprised at how well everything ran. I've got some cheap South African PMP brass cased .223 I plan to shoot next time to see how it does. I'll let you know how it goes.

Ya, I thought I might have issues my first time out, but I followed crane specs so I suppose I should have expected it to run well. I was also expecting to eat a bunch of gas, and that wasn't the case at all.

Steel case. Now that I think about it, I'm not sure if my bcg has the O ring around the ejector spring. I'll have to check that out.

Having fun with block1 optics. I'm starting to like block1 optics on a mod1 as much as I like block 2 optics on a mod0.

Had this upper for a bit really love it I didn’t buy it with the intention of making it look like a mk18, but I stumbled across the 553 for a good price and putting it on made me want to make it look a bit more like the real thing so I picked up the stock and some rattle cans, I’d still like to change some stuff maybe even put a stamp on a forged lower

Nice. I did some reading through the archives, and read that the locking mechanism was faulty and would either fail to lock, or it would completely lock up. That made me hesitate on seeking out the gen1.

The one I ended up getting is a gen4, but it came in an ace box and is still marked Ace on the stock. I wasn't sure if I'd get booted out of the thread for deviating sooo much. I know I've seen an itw pic of one with the m4 socom, but haven't had the chance to comb through the thread.

Very nice combo! I'm a huge fan of the su233 aesthetics. Especially when combined with an su231 and a peq15 on a block1.

Two questions for the hive, building a mk18-0. Was the Arms #22M68 mount ever used in place of the Wilcox? I’m assuming not because I can’t remember seeing any reference to it. Also if I’m planning on running suppressed all the time, would you suggest or see a benefit in swapping the colt bolt to a LMT-e bolt?

I got the same one last week. Currently on its way back from Tar Heel for the SBR and Crane engravings, they had super quick turnaround. Was also really happy with the quality of mine. Finish was nice and did a quick LPK check to make sure everything was spec. Have had a Mod II on a Colt for a few years and always wanted to go back and do a Mod 0, so this one should pretty much complete it.

SF did use the ARMS #22M68 for a short time when everyone was scrambling for mounts around 03-04' but using them on BLK Is.  Had one and gave it away.

I had a half dozen of the Aimpoint mounts.  Just standardized on one.  ARMs didn't have the riser to bring it up to 1/3 witness if I remember correctly.   Never played with the Wilcox.

Thanks CD! Do you think the Wilcox mount is superior to the arms? Anything you didn't like about the arms mount?
The only thing I'd say, is if you go with arms, go with the lower 1/3 spacer and not the cantilever, unless you use a lot of loc tite. The cantilever lower 1/3rd has a few more screws involved that like to loosen up over time. The simpler, the better. I bet that's why the Wilcox became popular. It was already at lower 1/3rd, and there were fewer screws, and zero spacers to worry about. The Aimpoint qrp was also used a lot. It was also simple, but it required a spacer to bring it up to lower 1/3. It also had a unique torque knob that would give you repeatable tension when tightened to the third click.

eta- when it comes to the bcg, I'd just go std colt FA bcg. Make sure it has the upgraded spring and maybe instal an o ring. The mk18 was designed to do well suppressed, so I don't see why you would need to get to fancy when it comes to the bcg. Mine runs great suppressed with an old worn in colt bcg.

Have had a Mod II on a Colt for a few years and always wanted to go back and do a Mod 0, so this one should pretty much complete it.
Awesome. I'd be interested in seeing everything that you had done to it.

Yep, I picked up one as well, so that hopefully one day I can participate in this thread and not just be a spectator.

I think the PSA M4A1 lowers look great. The finish on mine is outstanding. Though I suppose that’s a moot point, since as soon as the rifle is done I’ll rattle can the shit out of it.

After the fail to eject debacle with the factory CQB Colt barrel a few weeks ago I was finally able to find a new Colt 6920 barrel in the EE and have it chopped down and the port opened.

This Mod 0 is working great now!

Who did the barrel work for you and do we know the correct gas port size? Looking like I’ll have to go this route also being all the factory barrels seem to be drying up.

Gas port size is .070. I may have a 14.5" colt 6921 I can spare if you are thinking of going that route. Adco does a lot of the chopping and gas port opening for ppl in this thread.

I had John Thomas over at RAW do the chop and gas port for me. He's the best of the best. Like already stated the port should be opened to .070.

Thanks guys. I was planning on going with RAW for the work. I’m not ready to buy a barrel just yet, trying to get other small stuff together at this point.
