I may have made a bastardized mod 0 and 1. Took a 10.3 colt fsp and chopped a DD lite rail so I have a free float hand guard. So a mod 0.5.

Finally ditched my gen 2 Sopmod. Got a gen 1 on the way.
What's the sling setup on a 2005 era Mod 0? Noticed most NSW ones are single point. I'm assuming CQD rear? |

I missed out on two different old logo eotechs so this is the optic for now. Looking to get an old logo exps3-0 or a 553. The trijicon was missing the rds mount and by a stroke of good luck I found someone with an mrds kit plus the exact rds mount and offset peep sight I needed. Just a placeholder till I get another eotech.
(Excuse the carpet and potato pic. At the in-laws and the carpet in this room was destroyed by grand babies. Oh yeah, and don’t mind the fake peq15. Was given to me with a purchase and I had to see what it looked like.) Attached File Figured I’d throw this one up while I’m here. Attached File |

Love it. ETA: I’m guessing it’s some combination of tans and browns, however, it comes out looking kind of a ‘cement’ or ‘granite’ gray. In another pic on another thread, looks like you snapped it against your garage floor or something, totally disappears. Thanks. |

I just lightly dust the khaki. It does blend in with my garage floor with the fluorescent lighting. Thanks man. @rtutah has experienced with some straight up gray paint mixed in with these two colors. It looks really good. Not sure what color or brand the gray is. |

Thanks man. @rtutah has experienced with some straight up gray paint mixed in with these two colors. It looks really good. Not sure what color or brand the gray is. Thanks, Eyekahn. My primary go-to colors are all Rustoleum: camo sand, earth brown, and deep forest green. Tried khaki in the past, but it was too light for the projects I was working on. Ended up deciding to use sand as my third color instead of khaki (w/green & brown, or just w/brown), but it does add a lot of yellowish tint… Maybe I’ll have to try some khaki again on a new project, just with brown. @rtutah Please do tell - and pics too, or steer me to where you posted them previously. I’ll likely be posting a new build or two here again in the near future, as I now have six more SBR approvals pending… |

Regardless, when I'm happy with the base, I pick up the Rustoleum Dark Earth and make some clouds with it. Then I swap colors back to the lighter Skilcraft and a swatch of mesh to create some scales. I do this will both colors so that I have both light and dark colored scales. The grey I've used is just some Rustoleum primer I had laying around. It looks quite good with both shades of brown. The Skilcraft stuff wears off pretty fast but the Rustoleum seems to be a bit more durable. I've found Krylon to be too durable though, which is why I don't use it. A good paint job looks best after it's been abused and gets that salty look. There's a little grey on there but this is mostly Skilcraft TOC and Rustoleum Dark Earth. https://i.imgur.com/cvbsp02.jpg View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Originally Posted By RTUtah: Originally Posted By Vehemence: Thanks, Eyekahn. There's a little grey on there but this is mostly Skilcraft TOC and Rustoleum Dark Earth. https://i.imgur.com/cvbsp02.jpg I’ve actually only done one rifle with more than two colors; sand, earth brown & deep forest green. I, like you, left some black anodizing untouched in a few areas on that one, so I suppose it’s actually four colors. Turned out pretty cool, but I won’t post it here as it’s not a clone of anything. Aside from that one and another rifle I painted all green, the rest I’ve rattled so far (and there have been a few) are all just two colors, sand and earth brown. There are pics of some of them in the SOPMOD and GWOT threads. They’re all a lil’ salty - I like ‘em dirty. I’ve been toying with the idea of doing something with some gray in it. Eyekahn’s Mk18 photo shot on concrete inspired me further (though he didn’t use any gray ) I’m thinking I may do some kind of matte light gray with dark earth brown combo… Thanks again to both of you guys for your responses. And, nice sticks! |
