I just went back to see who originally brought up the CQD thing. Tmender03 cited a Powerpoint/PDF that shows it mounted loop forward, but doesn't say what it was lol. KILLERB6 agreed with loop forward, pointing out the protection that orientation offers, which is also what I had heard from people that used them that way.

I sometimes miss the guys who liked to knock 14.5" mids in the Block II thread due to them "not being able to reliably cycle any ammo in any environment/condition," and then later went on to condemn the .082 port DD barrels (essentially the 14.5" carbine equivalent for 10.3" barrels). The irony was so extreme that it offered pretty solid entertainment. 
I don't miss the TDP talk, however. Some of those guys were more delusional than a teenager who still has an imaginary friend. |

Might be buying a Mk18 factory SBR and doing a BII build on it in a few months. I hear rumblings that the new dept only allows factory rifles as patrol rifles, but I haven't seen that for myself yet.
If that's not the case, I'll be using my newly rebuilt (by that point) Block I CQBR.

Thankfully as long as you can qualify with it, you can carry it. Hopefully the nuclear security gig I'm going for allows the same but I doubt it. |
