It sure is. It is the typically seen as the UK counterpart to the US "oriented" and its defined by Cambridge as being an acceptable alternative. Personally, I think it sounds awkward and I prefer the more common US usage... but it is technically a word. |

I don't think anybody honestly believes that Surefire lights "aren't correct".
If a part is in the military supply chain and has been ordered, then I'm sure someone somewhere has slapped it on a 10.3" upper. There's nothing "incorrect" about it. Even if some part doesn't have a NSN #, it's surely possible that someone somewhere acquired it through other means and slapped it on a 10.3" upper. But some people really like staying as true to the SOPMOD kit as they can and cloning a rifle that way. Good for them, it's their rifle. Some people don't give a shit about the SOPMOD kit and like cloning different configurations they've seen "in the wild" in pictures. Good for them, their rifle. Some people get hung up on what direction to install their sling mount LOL. As absurd as that is — good for them, it's their rifle. We've seen plenty of non Block II shit hanging on mil rifles (Surefire lights, Aimpoints, PEQ-15s, random rails, etc…) But, if someone really wants to clone a rifle and stick to only SOPMOD accessories, what's the harm? (Other than their wallet) Anyway, this whole "correct/incorrect" discussion seems really pointless. We know what's in SOPMOD, we have the PowerPoints. But SOPMOD is just one of many ways to acquire accessories, and overall probably represents a small percentage. That said, there's still some things that remain HIGHLY unlikely to ever appear on a .mil rifle, like a cerakoted billet lower for example. So, there is still some reasonable, common sense guidelines to keep a thread like this somewhat focused. As for rear sling plates, the CQD plate is "spec" for the Mk 18 lower, as installed by CRANE. For CQB uppers that get stuck on issue M4A1s, I don't think there's really a "spec" sling plate. Seems to be a huge range of them and even none at all seems to be most common. As far as I can tell there's no standard for that, nor has their ever been. These uppers are getting put on M4 and M16 lowers from all over every branch of the US military. |

That's where the drb guy is trying to tell everyone as a newbie that all of their surefire lights aren't in use, then I presented proof and proved him wrong, then he changed his story to "must be private purchase" Who knows what his story will be tomorrow. |
