This is without a shim on the 4P. Once I added the shim it was perfect to seat the can.

I shimmed mine, I think it took two shims.  I don't know if it was a clearance issue yet, but I did it to time it properly.  Shims are indeed included.

You use the bevel spacer provided with all SF mounts regardless if the barrel clears the rail or not. However, If you didn't already have the clearance that bevel spacer would make it.

Ha! Well I'll be damned if your builds (plural) aren't "the" best on this forum, plus the fact that you're taking hard core training classes on what seems like a monthly basis. You and a few others have this clone thing locked down and my build feels like I'm polishing a turd most days.

I think you should build yours as a MARSOC clone (all you need is an XPS and waffle stock) once you figure out for yourself that AK's belong in a trash can.

A MARSOC build would be easy and the least-expensive route for sure.

You should do it, then build something else with parts.

Question -

Getting ready to build a mini Recce... Cant decide on Stock. Down to 2: Magpul STR, and B5 Esopmod... Both should have the same cheek wield right? Anyone have preference on either? Relevant to thread because I've seen both in here. I love the B5, but is the MAgpul more refined around its edges??

Thanks for the input. Was kind of leaning this way anyway. I used to hate the look of a Sopmod, but it grew on me and the first time I shouldered it on my B2 cqbr, I fell in love with it... might as well be the right thread seeing as how the Sopmod stock is Clone correct for the CQBR. Had I said I was using it on a CQBR it wouldnt have been an issue.

Same, have & like/use both, but edge goes to the good ole SOPMOD. CAR is my fav for general CQBR usage tho.

Are block II M4A1 uppers with no FSP pretty comparable in value to a DD MK18 URG?

Negative.  This thread is a figment of your imagination... It is your subconscious urging you to build a MK18 or CQBR clone.

Don't do it. From what I can see in the EE they're pretty much going for close to the same price give or take a hundred based on the condition.

I have 3 DD MK18 URGs...  And I only have SBRs...  Interstate travel is not convenient.

In that case, I'd be looking for someone to trade with haha. Just gotta find the right person obviously.

Interstate travel is the biggest reason to be honest.

It's pretty easy if you're traveling to states that allow NFA items though.

I want to get rid of my painted black RIS II FSP for an actual FDE one down the road.

The 5320.20 is a hassle... They still haven't approved one from June. They just tell me it's pending.

I email Ted or ask to speak with the examiner. I've emailed and faxed in them before with a day turnaround on them both.

TNW- is it only because you don't want to deal with paperwork? I've only gotten around to filing one 5320.20 so far, since I go to school in a different state. That took just over a few weeks for me to get it back, so it's not too long of a wait. But I'm just planning on filing paperwork for all my bordering states soon just in case a last minute trip pops up.

Edit: should've refreshed before posting

Why?  If it's painted, the only one who knows is you.....remember George Costanza from Seinfeld said it best, "It's not a lie, if you believe it"

No response from Mr. clutter on that or the other person. When I called I was told " depends on the person, depends on the day"

I was told they no longer accept fax, or email. I'm always SUPER nice to them to because I imagine they get tons of frustrated and rude people calling in.

I might try sending another one... Maybe it will make it to a more competent person

I emailed Ted C about an issue once, never got a reply from him. 2 days went by and got a reply from someone updating me on the form. So he definitely gets the ball rolling in my opinion.

They don't, he's misinformed.

Mr. Clutter did help me out once, but I think that used up all of my good luck with the ATF.

But he helped with a form that they mistakenly disapproved...

Not tracking correctly. Are you saying that they don't accept 5320's via fax or email or that they do and the examiner that said that is misinformed?

My faxed copy is sitting in my safe. So not sure how I am misinformed. I guess if they changed it in the last couple months.

It's probably just one of those things where it depends on the mood of whoever you send it to.  They basically told me that was how it worked.
