Most pictures I see of Rangers if they are using one at all is the Matech. I think it really comes down to whose CQBR you're trying to clone.

For a true BUIS I think the elevation adjustment and small aperture are overkill. I wouldn't say they are over complicated in and of themselves, but when you factor in their purpose and the efficacy of simpler designs that fill the same role, I think they are, well... A little over complicated. I own and use a couple but they are not my preferred design. I think the KAC 300m is better suited to the role of fold down BUIS.

Picture request:
Does anyone have a fixed mount WMX200 and a Surefire 3-prong? I want to see how far forward the muzzle of the light sits next to the flash hider when the mount of the light is to the edge of the rail. Thanks, guys. |

The KAC 300m micro rear is hands down the best rear BUIS around IMO. I've pretty much tried them all, and nothing else comes close for what I want out of a rear BUIS.

I'm pretty sure that 300m micro rears have been spotted in the wild.
Someone else should be able to confirm for sure though. |

I think we have seen a random 200-600m micro on one of two pics, but this would make sense since they're issued on USMC rifles so one or two is bound to show up on a random upper here and there. But, I think it's safe to say that the only ones that are actually issues on Block II CQBRs is the Matech and standard 300m. Easily the most common rear I see is none at all. But after that, the Matech and then the 300m. Everything else is just one-offs that I wouldn't really qualify as clone-kosher (if you're concerned about such things). It's personal preference, throw whatever works on there. But if your goal is to "clone" an as-issued CQBR, then you have three choices: none, Matech or KAC 300m. |

SU-230s on CQBRs with NT4s are probably my favorite setup.

Question for the Mod 0 guys. Where have you guys been finding your LMT rear sights? I've seen a few places online, but I'm having a tough time finding them cheaper than $120. I'm sorely tempted to just buy a carry handle from PSA for half the price and chop it, but I'd prefer the LMT if I could find one for a bit cheaper.

Hey everyone,
I think this thread has served as a great repository for photos that we might find across the internet, but sometimes I get frustrated with using it as a reference point, mainly because: 1) It's hard to reference/bookmark images that are spread across hundreds of pages and multiple (sometimes archived) threads 2) Usually images that are posted aren't the original source image and therefore lack attribution and are sub-optimal resolution This is what led me to create the Mk 18 Mod 0 gallery that I posted awhile back. Since my Block II CQBR build is quickly becoming my favorite rifle, I thought it would be fun to start curating a gallery of "seen in the wild" photos. I'm trying to focus this on the highest resolution, originally sourced material as I can. This isn't perfect, and right now there's probably a dozen in there that aren't quite up to quality standards, but sometimes the original sources have either been moved or taken down. There also might be a double or two in there since sometimes I find a higher resolution version and forget to remove the old one. But with that said, here's what I have so far: Block II CQBR Gallery (You can click on the first image and then navigate through it with your arrow keys) If you're aware of really good quality high resolution pics of Block II CQBRs that aren't in here, please let me know and I'll be happy to add them. Additionally, if there's anyone out there that's willing to collaborate with me on this, I'd be happy to make this a shared folder. Because this is just on Dropbox and I'm not wanting to change the filenames, the sort-order is a little suboptimal, but I'm hoping to find a way to improve that in the near future. I'll be updating this as often as I can, so feel free to bookmark it and check back regularly. I can also post here when there's been significant additions if that interests anyone. |

Quick question. I figured someone here might be able to help me out.
Will a Surefire Socom 556RC have enough clearance to fit on a 10.3" barrel with FSB or will I need to shave the bayonet lug off? Or go 10.5"? Thanks! |
|
|
The SF can will have no issues on a 10.3" barrel. You will be good go go. No need to shave the lug.
