If you were setup to make a DIAS, you could make one for sub $20.00.
I make medical jaws quite a bit harder than a DIAS for less than $9.00 with heat treat, passivation, and packaging. |

I sold some camera gear and a lot of my rifles and nvg which came close to nearly half the cost of the MG. I had $5K saved up for an M11 or something but when I saw how much money I had in guns that I could buy back later for the same price it was an easy choice.
I see some people complain about the cost while having almost the same amount in gun collections. Priorities man. Pick one. Elcan, PVS-14, and 300 F/2.8 netted like $7,000 right there. Stupid glass/optics. |

Just hard to justify selling some pretty rare, usable, stuff to get into it. When I do it, it'll be cash (or card, lol).

Well guys and gals, it's summer time again. I can't leave the city limits without hearing scattered gunfire and the smell of nitroglycerin and nitrocellulose is on the wind.
I messaged TC to make sure he was OK with me starting this up again in his thread, and we are cleared hot. No prize- just bragging rights. Top gun of CQBR clone-land. I'm going to run this indefinitely for the future, updating at least once a week on Saturday nights, or as often as new entries are posted. For those who weren't around the last time we did this, the rules are very simple... 10 rounds. 100 yards. 1 target. Any position (supported, unsupported, kneeling, standing, whatever- just be aware that you all go into the same categories regardless of position, so supported positions are recommended to be competitive). Shoot the target, measure it with calipers or put it through analysis software (like OnTarget) and post a pic of it with the following info- -A brief description of your set up (include whatever you feel is pertinent). -Optic used -Ammunition used -Position fired from -Measurements of group (as previously mentioned) Here is the target. Print it at home. Fo' FREE! Super easy. I have divided the previous leader board into two categories- Magnified and Non-magnified. If the top group remains for 4 straight weeks without being unseated, it will be removed (and the board will shift up) and that shooter will earn a tally mark and have to shoot again to get back on the board. This is just to keep people shooting, and give competitive incentive to unseat the top shot. I would also like to open an "Irons only" category. |
|
|
So while I wait to sell 2 scopes to fund the optic for my Holland, I have a few questions to help me decide what to use. What is the "most correct" optic, 2.5-8? Do you guys with 2.5-8s ever wish you had a little more power for shooting groups and long range? I'm constantly swaying between the MK4 2.5-8, VXR Patrol 3-9, and maybe MK4 3.5-10. Its hard to find something that stays compact while maintaining good precision capability. In other news, I already have a feeling this is going to become my favorite gun in my safe, handles so nicely and looks so good.
p.s. what paint is everyone using to recreate the kind of no fucks given paint job used on issued mk12s? Aervoe or just krylon camo? I just want the standard tan with a couple brown stripes here and there. |
|
|
Well this is the CQBR thread. lol
But I had no issues rebuying all my parts again and built even better clones my second time around. The parts will be there. The MGs will be there. The MGs will for the most part be more expensive. |

What are you gonna do brother? When 72oz of Cola runs wild on you!

M16's RR will range from 17-40K depending on the markings on the side of the receiver with M16A2's generally commanding the most money. A genuine Colt M16A1 will run you around 25K plus or minus a few thousand.
To give some perspective 10 years ago M16a1 was around 13-15K. |

Thanks for the help guys. I'm just a casual shooter so I doubt the problems the EOTech is reported to have would really impact me. I have a 14.5" BCM that needs an optic as well so I'll probably go Aimpoint on that and throw an EOTech on the CQBR for some contrast. Aimpoint will come first since these are my only ARs and will split time between the two until I can buy a second optic.

I think I need a M4A1 CQBR Block II in my life. I wonder if I would be able to trade a brand new KAC FF mk12 rail for a DD ris II mk18 in FDE. I have the DD mk18 upper it's just missing the rail.

It's very nice to look at them in pictures and dress them up like Barbies, but one's got to shoot 'em a bit every now and then, as well.
And they're accurate fun (these are both DD rifles, receivers and uppers)
