Hello everyone, I am a long time lurker and just joined. I spent 12 years active duty in the Marines (SSgt, 1371, 2nd CEB, 2/8, 3/2, 24th MEU yadi yadi) and got out for family reasons. We all have been miserable ever since LOL. Also, for the past 6 years I have been a Police Officer. Anyways, I ordered a DDM4V5 a few days ago and am excited as all can be. I am looking forward to having an AR platform back inmy life. I also ordered a ACOG TA31RCO-M4 and a Larue LT100 QD mount and Troy sights. I will post pics when I get everything and put her together. -Steve

My wife would kill me if she knew what I was spending in this so I bought her a Ruger LCR (her first pistol) for Christmas to soften the blow. She had always wanted a pistol so I'm sure she will like the LCR. |

Very nice! My V5 is taking forever to get here. I have never waited this long for a weapon to arrive but that will be another story. ACOG and Larue mount are here. I believe the wife bought me Troy sights for Christmas. I can't wait for next week :)

I can barely believe it, but my DDM4V5 will be here tomorrow

HELP: DDM4 just came came in. It's brand new and I go put a Magpul 30 in the well and the damn thing will not eject! Before placing it in, the mag release would not depress dodo I figured it was a DD thing. Put the mag in and cannot get it out. The mag release will not depress at all.
|
|
|
This is what it looked like out of the box. If I take a pen and press it into the center inside of the hole, I can get the mag to release. Is there something missing!?

That's a very strange looking mag release button. DD (in their LPK) uses a release with textured concentric grooves in it. It also doesn't look like the mag release is screwed in all the way which should make it more easy to drop a mag.

You received a Cali legal DD. That appears to be Bullet Button that the folks in Cali have to use if they want to utilize the other "evil features" on their ARs. It keeps them from being able to change a mag without having to insert a bullet tip into the center of the mag release. I would let DD know that you received the wrong mag release if you are indeed in IL. |

I think it takes a particular coward to criticize procedures that you don't understand; particularly when they apply to places that you don't have the bravery to go.

I also got a friggin 10 round mag which made me believe it was a Cali version. The guy I bought from was scrambling to find one for me so I assume he went to a Supplier out of CA. I thought that I had lost my mind for a minute LOL. Is this an easy change? Do you think DD will send me a replacement? Is there a way around it? Thanks fo rthe info. What a PITA. -Steve |

Looks like you got a California model (bullet button).
Probably a shipping accident. Let 'em know, I'm sure DD will happily send you a standard assembly if you think you can install it yourself, or they'll fix it for you. ~Augee |

Let me say that I feel sorry for everyone in CA!!! What a friggin pain!!! I will email DD right now. Thanks for the info guys. What a way to spoil a damn night. |

UPDATE: Bill with DD has already emailed me back and offered to pay for shipping there and back for the rifle while they convert it or they would send me the parts. I checked with the armorers in my PD and they are qualified so I opted for the more cost efficient way. OUTSTANDING customer service. One of the reasons why I came to DD after all of my researching.

Sorry for the crap phone pic but here is my DDM4V5 with ACOG TA31RCOM4, Troy folding sights and Larue Tactical QD ACOG mount. After I got her dialed in I was amazed at the accuracy. The ACOG is a treat as well. I can't believe I use to shoot 500 meters open sights while in the Marines, this is so much nicer LOL. A great package. Very happy so far. I think I am going to pick up a Pelican 1700 and a Larue Tactical padded sling and I should be good for a bit.

Is this a pics only thread? I'm hoping to buy a DDm4 with some spare coin after taxes this year, but they look to retail at $1500, although I remember seeing a post about being bought sub $1200, is that what their typical cost is if u know where to look? Any help in the right direction would be sweet, since I understand there can be a wait time to get it, so I wanna get the ball rolling now. If you can pm me to avoid going off topic that works too.
Sorry if this is the wrong section to be asking. |

I think your question is fine here. I picked mine up during Ranier Arms' black friday sale 2011 at several hundred dollars off what they list them at.
Ranier Arms, Riflegear, and Smartgunner all sell DD stuff below MSRP. Those are the only three I know of besides gunbroker. |

Wanted the LW version, but not stocked. |

Would recommend moving your rear sight back as far as possible.
