Is that because the geometry of the buffer is different, or because the SCW stock won't work with an FRT?

You need an scw BCG to run the scw buffer.  I’ve got an extra I’ll sell cheap

My PDX has a RB 3pos with scw setup and it runs like a madman

Built a Heat clone with one of my SBR lowers and tossed one of these in it. Hol-e-smokes, haha. I haven't giggled that much in a long time. Even my buddy was laughing after he shot it. 180 rounds flawlessly. Even handled a 60 round Surefire mag with no hiccups. I did have to file the "module" slightly to get it to sit in the pocket in the upper but I expected some kind of modification. No biggie at all. Definitely gets warm real quick though.

Must be something in the air as I just had mine at the range yesterday afternoon for the first time. 3 pos AZR ran like a champ and is just super fun to shoot on this type of set up.

Learned more about the 3-POS AZR today.

First, I dropped one into my 10.5" AR, suppressed, heavy buffer (Armaspec Stealth Recoil Spring H3-equivalent  buffer) because it always runs suppressed.  This gun runs 100%, have taken classes with it, etc.  Great setup.  AZR ran with no problems.  Faster than my Gemtech HALO-T would have liked, I'll bet.  It got pretty hot, and shot some sparks.

Then I swapped uppers to my XM-177 clone, and it really didn't run.  I got about half a mag of brrrrt, but for the most part it was single shot, and the next round wouldn't feed. I'm pretty sure the buffer was too heavy for that setup.  BCG wasn't coming back far enough to pick up that next round.  Fair enough.  I didn't have another buffer to test.  Lesson learned.

Next we have my 10.5" lightweight piston gun. It's running the Superlative Arms piston setup, and I was unsure how it would handle the AZR.

Handles it just fine!  Mag after mag without a single hiccup.  The ROF seems a bit slow, but that might be the buffer.  I might switch to a standard H2 and see if that ups the ROF.

All in all, another great (and expensive) AZR day.

Nice to know the Armaspec Stealth H3 works running the AZR 3 position. I’ve got the H2 model running in my LMT SBR 10.5” with supers/subs and was thinking of trying one of the AZR’s out.

Interesting. I tried one(also H3) in an 11.5 w/AZR 3P and an M2, it would not brrrt. It would fire a single rd then dead trigger with the primer showing a very slight dimple. I assumed carrier bounce since it functioned checked fine.
Same gun brrrts using an H3 or H2 regular buffer. Might even run with an H1 but with the ROF increase from H3 to H2 I didn't bother with an H1.

I'll give the stealths another shot in my 16" IRA'ish build and maybe a few other rifles. I have H3,H2, and carbine I can try again.

I get carrier bounce in my AR9, since it's a straight blow-back, but how does carrier bounce happen in a locked breech?  I'm having trouble understanding that.

basically the same thing in a locked breach. I try to call it carrier bounce because that's really what it is rather than bolt bounce like in a blow back AR.  For locked breach, the bolts not necessarily unlocking rather the carrier is rebounding reward slightly from the slam home and lack of sufficient dead blow effect from the buffer. This slight reaward bounce of the carrier is enough to prevent the hammer from striking the firing pin or not allowing sufficient force to set off the primer leaving a slight dimple on the primer. The later is what I was getting using the Stealth H3.

This video shows it pretty well. The first part of the clip is what I think i was getting, slight carrier bounce but the bolt was staying locked hense the slight dimple on my primers. The second example is severe carrier/bolt bounce as the bolt is completely unlocking. Yes it's air soft but the symptoms are the same...

I’ll check more into the AZR’s seeing different products on the website but more interested in the 3 position version. Be great to have it also run with a dedicated 22lr upper.

It's not completely clear on the website, will the Redacted work on the Geissele and a semi auto Milspec, or only in the Geissele?

I thought at one point JD posted that he was including a disconnector for use in semi auto Milspec triggers to make sure it has the right contour to be drop in compatible. Is that still the case? If so, which model was that?

It's designed to specifically work with the Geissele. It may not work with every mil-spec trigger out there as even some Geisseles have issues working 100% with the [Redacted] AZR.

For anybody curious, my AZR ended up at at 0.657" as measured from the top flat of the device to bottom of the trip leg, to work in all my Larue MBT-2S lowers.

Attached File

I would definitely not jump straight to this measurement.

Probably start around .700-.725" ish and work your way in. It took til around there before my upper would even close into the lower.

Then sneak up on final dimension with a file/stone just the way JD shows in the video.

3POS. The upper cutout on my HB300BO build was pretty loose and the hammer was rubbing the regulator. I milled the hammer down but the BCG still binds.

I guess I'll try it in another setup.

Isn't the BCG binding indicator of leg needing shortened?

I know the 3 POS is supposed to be 100% drop in, but still.

Does anyone have a REDACTED AZR they can measure?  I didn't realize there were multiple versions when I bought mine and I bought the milspec one (AZR-15MR).  I'm curious what the differences between the AZR-15M2 and REDACTED are.  Is it solely leg length or is there cam differences as well?

On the M2 I'm definitely getting engagement on the disco (SSA trigger) but function check doesn't work.  I can't feel the hammer catching at all.  The trigger never gets that close to being "dead" so I'm guessing the M2 has a shorter leg length that a redacted one?

My AZR-15MR is:
0.8270 with top flipper vertical
0.8920 with top flipper pushed back

No update but I did email JD about something else about a month ago and asked about 22lr "something". He said it's still on his bench...

I figured once 3P production was running smoothly he'd get back to 22lr. Now that you can buy more than one 3P at a time and they always seem to be in-stock, maybe 22lr will see progress.
