Late to the game

Just built this upper last night from the rail I got Black Friday 2018; Colt upper, bcg w/Sprinco extractor upgrades, recent run 10.3" barrel, and DD Mk12 gas block

Have True North gripstop-k coming. Still deciding on optic and mount..

I find this pretty interesting because there is better clearance with a mk 12 (that had the relief cuts made). The G block is quite close to the rail on my near clone

I hate the Geissele gas block. Just so fugly.

I'm went with the Geissele "clone correct" list and what my buddy in 19th SFG told he's seeing and used the Mk12/Crane block

@sagmill

Swapped blocks and used the same tube, no more leak.  Granted, WOA really really oversized the port.

Bout to re-spray it properly. I didnt expect it to wear this much after roughly 2500 rounds but I figured I may as well snap a pic before I repaint it.

New to the forum he guys. After reading all the info
this thread I’ve decided that I still want a URGI. I’m gonna wait it out until Christmas (so the GF has a good gift to get me )and and to get more feedback from CD once these rifles have been fielded longer and we (hopefully) see some updated setups. I’d also like to thank CD for the updated including pics and info. Great info on here, hope you all have a great day! I’m on 3rds so I’ve just started.

Not sure but I highly recommend the Arisaka M-lok picatinny rails. A bit more expensive but also much lower profile than a magpul rail. It helps to keep everything nice and tucked in close to the rail.

In my mind the URG-I would have a Surefire if built new as a complete rifle so that's what I am going to run. I am sure all those old Insight lights we see in CD's pics are just carry overs from the previous URG the Geissele replaced. They must work well enough and last forever because they've been in SOPMOD forever. I just can't see spending $800 on a light that has low output when compared to modern lights and you can't service or get parts for. If the G URG-I is the "modern SOPMOD" upper reciever then I am putting a modern light on it.

Pretty sure I'm going with a 6xx series with IR as I figure the 14.5" barrel reaches a bit further so why not have some extended light output to compliment that.
