Took me a min to find my URX2 rail. Mini recce still in progress. This Kac project has taken some time no doubt however it actually feels lighter then expected on weight.

Kac Ambi lower
Kac LPR upper receiver
Kac Mod0 barrel 16in chopped to 13.7
Kac Block & tube
Kac E3 BCG
Kac URX2 rail
Surefire warcomp

Nice stick. It's pretty amazing how light the KAC uppers are. The URXs were so ahead of their time and still very relevant today.

Agree the URX2 rail is solid choice on this setup. I like the exposed gas block look also. So far I’m definitely happy with the choice of rail. Posted the upper originally on page 103. Made a change up on lower of choice and went with a Kac.   Unfortunately gonna have open gas port just a tiny bit because light power ammo has been hit and miss with cycling. So far I’m $1800 into this project as it sits which for Kac gun is cheap IMO. D.Wilson gonna get a few bucks off me before it’s finally 100% functional. Most of the parts I’ve grabbed have been cheap cause spray paint which ya I’m gonna hit it with anyway..

For guys running suppressed- what kind of buffer spring/weight are you running and do you get anywhere near 3 o'clock ejection? I've been running the VLTOR A5 with a Springco green and the H4- the heaviest weight they sell. I'm still slinging brass at about 1:30 or 2 o'clock. I thought the A5 would be the fix, but it's still gassy with the Sandman K on there. It's a pinned barrel, so I'm not really interested in pulling it off to go with an adjustable GB. Heck, if I was going to unpin it, i'd probably just buy a BRT optimum barrel and start over. Or maybe it doesn't matter since it runs 100%...?

Leave it. You could get an adjustable carrier but honestly. You want it to run 100% all the time with and without can. With shit ammo and with heavy ammo.

Try out Frontier 223 Match 55grhp. It's fast but very light recoil. Doesn't blow you out like XM193 or M855.

12.5” BLK

Thinking of changing up my 11.5” 5.56 after reading this thread. Anyone have a 3-12 (or similar) on that short of a barrel? That Bushnell LRTS is enticing and the barrel shoots lights out with a red dot.

Upper will be in the mail tomorrow headed D.Wilson to open the gas port just a tiny bit because low power ammo has been hit and miss with reliability. Also flush fit that urx2 for better fit.

Your experience mirrors many others I've heard from people who actually shot the NX8. When you first pick it up the reticle seems way too thick and the eye box small. Actually shoot it, and it becomes a well-rounded general purpose scope.

I prefer the levers on MI, Larue, or ADM to the nuts on mounts like g and badger because they lock and I don't have to worry about them ever coming loose or tracking witness marks, etc.

Maybe they never come loose, but it's just one more Murphy factor that I can eliminate, so I prefer to do so. Even if I never move the optic around.

I have used Bobro mounts a lot, but have been open to trying those brands you listed too. Recently I came across some old thread about a lemon Bobro mount, and a bunch of people started chiming in how QD mounts are trash, they'll eventually loosen and cause horrible accuracy, etc. I have never noticed this with my QD mounts(single latch), and that includes use with 308 ARs, heavyish scopes, and swapping from gun to gun.

Have you guys experienced problems with QD mounts?  I always thought they were gtg if from a quality manufacturer, but now I'm second guessing.

Just got the FF RAS ordered, probably going to order my scope tomorrow. Leaning towards trying the US Optic 1-8 in a Bobro, had one of their older scopes and the glass was unreal.

Colt lower, SSA-E, CTR (until SOPMOD), BCM Upper/Barrel, AAC 51T/M4-2000, Gasbuster, H3, etc... looking forward to getting it together and trying out a strap-wrench.

I don't know about bobro. I only have one. Their claim to fame is that the mechanism is self adjusting for various rail specs. That may have something to do with those claims?

ADM and mi are literally just a locking lever on a cross bolt. To adjust for different rails, you have to push the bolt out of its captured position. Then it goes back to the captured slot, where the nut physically cannot move and the other end of the bolt is captured in the lever, which is locked shut, so it physically cannot move either.

It seems like if they loosen over time it could only be from the steel in the screw "stretching" or the aluminum base itself compacting under pressure, which both seem extremely unlikely but would both happen just as much with a non-qd mount.

Even Larue requires the bolt to be tensioned correctly to maintain it's grip on the rail, but there's nothing locking the tensioning screw in position, so maybe that could move over time with recoil?

But yeah, I don't see how an ADM mount could loosen on its own at all. If that is actually a thing, hopefully someone can explain the mechanics to me because I don't see how it's mechanically possible.
